Their strategy backfired, hard. Sam did in fact hit the golurk but golurk hadn't caught the frisbee in time and it bounced off, hitting the ground with a very dull, 'thud.'

Sam moved over to his golurk who had stopped moving and seemed to have dimmer lights than usual. He took the golurk by the sides of its face and looked into those lights.

"This is just for fun...I know you're not used to it, but really. Just fun."

Golurk seemed still for a moment. Slowly the lights on its body began to brighten and he stood.

Good, head in the game. Sam moved over and took the frisbee, looking to the fire doggo with a thumbs up to Vic.

"Somebody's getting the hang of this."

He then nodded to his golurk, who prepared with a FOCUS PUNCH once again.

Seeing the confidence return to his golurk was winning enough.

"How about, next point wins?"

The suggestion was given before the toss, but seeing the arcanine miss had Sam wincing.

"...if you want."

He did, however, prepare for another throw. His golurk prepared for another punch. This time, a MEGA PUNCH. The momentum carried him toward the frisbee for what was hoped to be a final time.

The Arcanine flopped down on the sand. Exhausted, defeated, his energy reserves depleted.

Vic let out a soft laugh. ”Guess you win, Sam! Obviously, as one would expect, there was a grin, along with a hearty pat on the back. ”And you too, bud!” The pinkette added, looking at the Golurk and giving him another thumbs up.

Then, he turned to his Arcanine. ”Aaaand... you too, Nougat! You did so so good!” This was said in the higher pitch ‘baby voice’ some people used when talking to cute pokémon, a bright smile illuminating his expression as the tired Arcanine managed to muster enough energy to happily wag his tail at his trainer’s praise.

Vic’s attention then returned to his dear pal Sam.

”Wanna go grab a bite or something? My treat! To celebrate!”

Honestly, having some tacos sounded pretty good right about now...
