her grandmother had bought her the cruise ticket. the old woman said it was a fine summer and that Zinnia should go out to and enjoy herself. dutifully, she would pack and wait for the ship to dock in Slateport. once on, the cruise ship would depart for a small trip around Hoenn. despite the troubles of the region there was always a chance to take in the little moments. like right now.

standing on deck, she'd lean against the rail in a sunflower patterned dress and wide straw hat. the white sandals completed the look. a few guys looked her way but she looked so deep in thought that they ignored her. Zinnia didn't particularly want to be on the ship. living so close to the ocean already for much of her life did cause an appreciation though. but that would stop immediately when -

the whole ship rocked.

she gasps, gripping the rails as she was knocked forward. it seemed the opposite side of the ship had collided with something. that's when she heard the screaming. that's when she saw people running for the life boats. there was laughter too, loud and roaring. she'd turn but it was too late. someone grabbed her and shoved her among a group of other people.

w-what?

she had the time to think this briefly before being tied up.
