It seemed the morning was almost over, the sun was nearing high noon.

Bottled water was keeping him hydrated but the nearest outdoor stall was a small walk from his assigned battle circle so he'd cut back on hydrating to cut back to travel time to and from the nearest stall.

He was walking back to his circle on the beach now, only to find someone already there waiting on him.

"Sorry about the wait."

"it's quite all right."

she replies, shrugging. not bothered by the lateness. Siobhan had been watching the sun setting as she waited for her next match. the man was not known to her, so she introduced herself. placing a hand on her chest, she gave a curt bow.

"Siobhan Burke" the woman says "thank you for being my opponent this evening." it was the polite thing to do, after all. she waited for Sénon Game to release his Pokemon for the bout.

Oh wow.

Such a sweet and classy woman. You find could find plenty of each in other trainers but not usually both in one person.

It was refreshing actually.

"No, thank you Ms. Burke. . I appreciate your manners. I'm Sénon Game."

Truly he did, which was why he was sending out probably his most diligent and respectful pokemon.

Jūken, the one that if nothing else the ranger had a swelling amount of pride in.

"a pleasure to meet you, Senon Game" she would reply, watching as he expelled a Riolu from his Pokeball "I do hope you won't mind if I use a more... inexperienced Pokémon. I have just received him; I wish to know his potential."

some foes could be offended at not giving one's best partner. Siobhan said truth though before releasing her own. Kabuki the Sensu Oricorio was placed on the field of battle. he trills in greeting to the Riolu, giving a courteous nod of his head.

"I will allow you to go first."

The Riolu was took the gesture in stride touching his paws his sides and bowing in deep respect.

It was important to him that his opponents know he wasn't a cruel combatant, only dedicated.

"Stay loose and take your time. That bird is bad match up for you."

Jūken nodded in silence. He wouldn't just roll over, he didn't want to lose.

"Start with FORESIGHT."

This girl was no novice. She must have had some experience not only to call upon a pokémon to perfectly neutralize his choice but the fact that she even had such a pokemon in the first place spoke to her resources, or her luck.

Clapping his mits together the riolu's body lit ablaze with an ethereal blazing blue aura that seemed to be pulled into its eyes. Its burning blue gaze fixed on the flyer.

let's start with... "Peck" Siobhan commanded from her spot quietly. Kabuki would coo as he shot forward, his beak glowing as he aims at the Riolu's body. any part he could get at, the Sensu would try. the woman was not lying; he was fairly inexperienced in a fight.

many did not like Oricorio; they were quite rare indeed to be used in battle. Siobhan doubted the Riolu would have any moves that Kabuki's ability could copy too. the Foresight was a problem but manageable, she supposed. all that's left to do was leave it to luck and skill.

It was easier to take a hit when you knew you had a nasty retaliation coming. Jūken seemed to take that beak stab in stride and when the attack was over-

"Countercat!"

Countercat was a catch all term in which the riolu was ordered to counter any move that came its way through Counter for physical attacks or Copycat for any other kind.

It was just part of the riolu's battle education to be left to discern which moves could be responded with by Counter and which Copycat.

By now he was quite good at it.

Jūken used Counter!

-The ethereal blaze spread to his legs as he delivered a powerful COUNTER to PECK, sending double the damage he took back at the bird in the form of an axe-kick.

Kabuki would cry out as the Riolu's retaliation hit him. Siobhan did not move, did not flinch, from the spot she was occupying. "Air Slash" she commands quietly, the Sensu left to recover on his own whims. this was a battle and therefore humans could not intervene.

he did not hold it against his new trainer. flapping his fan-like wings in a sensual, exotic way, he made a show of charging the Air Slash; like any performer. Siobhan said nothing, waiting for the attack to shoot toward the Riolu.

If he wasn't given any further orders Jūken would fight with his own tactics.

Of course given he was well trained and additive to that he believed in his training; his tactics were Sénon's tactics.

He took the air slash and resisted the pain as it cut an X into his chest.

Curious about the ease of performance of such a technique he tried it himself on the bird. Bringing his arms into X over his chest he aimed for his opponent ripping his arms from their fixed position. As 'X' shaped blast of cutting force flying back at its original practitioner.

"Hurricane."

Siobhan's only order for this round came as a slight shock to Kabuki. he quickly got over it, flapping his wings aggressively as the Copied Air Slash shot back at him. the scythe of wind got lost in the kicked up air, equally aggressive as it shot toward the Riolu.

unfortunately, a bit of the stage was damaged by the assault. carefully laid stones and dirt got blown around, the circular Pokeball design in the center cracking with the wind's damage.

but the target was the Riolu as the Hurricane whipped around the stage, aiming for it next.

The Riolu was mildly baffled that his COPYCAT had missed.

He barely had time to question it before a whiplash of winds began to whip and lash about his proximity.

He couldn't take much more damage given his type-disadvantage. He could have tried to dodge the HURRICANE coming his way but he knew to win he had to land his own attacks not just dodge the opponent.

In a bid to see who could take more damage the Riolu was hit with the flying-type attack and sent flying himself.

However he made his own move in perfect space to land the hit, though he had to take a hit to land his own.

With a maximum effort full jab he punched at the oricorio sending a shockwave too strong to be lost in the hurricane.

the Force Palm was coming in strong. "Agility!" Siobhan calls out, hoping the speed from the quickening of feet was enough to dodge the assault. Kabuki tried his best to swerve, using his natural dancing abilities to flicker around the broken stage. his speed increased but -

the shockwave was too broad. it hit the bird dead-on, causing a cry of alarm to echo. "Peck" don't let up, Siobhan would think as Kabuki tried to shake off the pain. the ghost avian would shoot forward, his beak lighting up as he tried to make contact.

The FORCE PALM hit as intended but through AGILITY the bird was back on him with another round of PECKing.

His little body ached from the soreness of the pecking and winded strikes but he wasn't finished yet.

Jūken used COUNTER!

Once again the future-Lucario took the attacks it was given in stride to delivering an even stronger returning blow to the opposition.

this was the last move it seemed. Kabuki was slowing down and he eventually fell in battle. the Peck wasn't enough to take out the Riolu, try as he might. "you did wonderfully" Siobhan praised as the light left the bird's eyes and he fell forward "thank you."

she would recall the Oricorio in a flash of like. "and thank you, for the bout" Siobhan's eyes drifted to Senon's face, a thin smile appearing. she did not widely smile so it was nothing against Senon. the woman had indeed enjoyed the battle.

Jūken's knees buckled a bit and his body trembled as he summoned the strength to make one more attack.

Luckily, he hadn't needed to, the oricorio had already fallen.

Kneeling down the Riolu anchored himself placing his fist to the ground. Silently he bent the knee in respect to his opponent. His sore and tired body was proof of being pushed to the limit.

Sénon was proud of the riolu and grateful to both Jūken, the oricorio and its trainer for such a smooth and paced battle.

"I pay you the same respects. You manage your pokémon well, If it ever comes up, I hope we can battle again someday."
