Tick-tock goes the grandfather clock next to the living room window. Old and worn, a relic from the days of Archon's father. When the old man still breathed air instead of dirt. Golden hues eyed the minute hand as it inched closer to midnight.

11:55

Assuming his brother and Gavin kept to their punctual habits, they'd be here soon. Inviting Bael had been stupid. Gavin crazy. But the piper demanded payment, and Archon was tired of running.

Tension pressed down on broad shoulders. The hand holding Archon's phone tightened against the weight. Static ran nervously along the ridges of his tongue. Dry, not even the whisky he'd downed before sending the text lingered on the wet appendage. Archon took a deep breath. A mixture of anticipation and apprehension drummed an anxious beat inside him.

He hadn't been this anxious since his parent's death.

"Hurry up, you bastards."

Meet him where it all began.

Surely @archon knew that there were only two ways this could end.

Standing outside the door, he levels with a sharp look.

"D'you reckon he wants forgiveness or a fight?"

Gavin's come prepared for either possibility. Adrenaline thrums in his veins. He can't enjoy the feeling, not with the knowledge that he might be taking the life of a former friend, but he feeds on the energy nonetheless.

He has no need for words, especially not in a situation like this.

After all the time he'd spent running from his sins, after all the effort he'd put into covering his trail. What had made him finally snap? Does he need an answer to this question? Does he really want to know what Archon is thinking after all these years? Bael remains silent but the hand that remains in his pocket is telling enough of his expectations.

How very symbolic. To seek a conclusion in the place where it all started.

He only hopes that what he finds in there isn't dead just yet.

The familiar voice lured him to the door. Freshly painted in a coat of white, the wooden barricade is all that's protecting him from a fate he'd brought upon himself.

Though survival tightened Archon's muscles and begged him not to, he reached for the door handle. Slowly, it's turned and pulled opened to reveal the two men on the other side. The face of one is like looking into a mirror. The other is that of an old friend. Gazing at both reminds him of a past he'd tried desperately to leave behind.

Archon smiled. "Took you assholes long enough." he beckoned them inside, "Welcome to our family home, Gavin." a pointed gaze narrowed on his brother.

"Bael."

"Welcome home."

A breeze brought on by the opening of the door swirls the miasma that pools around Gavin's feet. He cants his head at @archon when the door opens but his expression is guarded, unreadable.

They've both been taught by some of Rocket's worst.

Gavin steps inside, making no attempt to conceal the knife tucked against his palm or the gun at his hip. He's armed with his pokeballs, too, clearly prepared for something to go awry.

There is a patience to him that the brothers lack. His amber gaze shifts to — curious, expectant.

The atmosphere here is suffocating as ever, never seeming to hold even a trace of whatever warmth had once flood this home. He acknowledges the greeting with a gaze, but no longer holds any response for a meaningless phrase.

It doesn't need to be said that he's ready to snap at a moment's notice, just waiting to grab that throat and wring it. But he's cold, not entirely cruel - Not when it comes to reading the person he once called his brother.

To be a reflection through and through, he gives the same pointed gaze to Archon.

What's with this farce? And why now?
