The Salamence and Charmeleon were still breathing streams of fire—although the draconid had switched back to biting and snapping at the remaining Drifblim that were approaching him with Thunder Fang; leaving the Fire-type to deal with the rest of the other dual-type that the draconid was driving away from where they stood.

At the same time, the Glaceon then reared back and snapped at an incoming Dusknoir with an Ice Fang attack, seeing that it was coming in for a close-range attack to slap the daylights out of the Ice-type. “Zima, slap it back with an Ice Shard, go! Be careful!” he called out as the Ice-type let out a yipping noise and leapt back, before suddenly releasing a volley of Ice Shard attacks at the Dusknoir.

Not too long after that, the Ghost-type then attempted to fire off a Shadow Ball at the Glaceon, who then countered with another volley of Ice Shard attacks at the Ghost-type.

“Shit, I still have one more ‘mon but… he’s next to useless…” he said, hissing at the sight—the Braviary suddenly sweeping in and catching some of the attacking Dusknoir off-guard with a close-range Aerial Ace to the face, driving them off with another loud shriek before whipping up another turbulent Tailwind to help his teammates and allies to keep going.

“When will they stop coming…” he groaned, blinking—he was feeling sleepy but he had to fight off the drowsiness as they were so close to seeing what was coming!

Was there really something that was causing the tree to always get knocked over?

Or was there something more sinister causing the Ghost-types to consistently swarm the place…

Slowly but surely Mihai noticed the ghosts breaking. He counted their numbers as best he could with them moving around constantly. There was definitely fewer now. His ninetails was somehow doing great constantly dodging blows or using safeguard. Then retaliating with hex and toxic and a constant cold wind blew around the beast. He was scary and often times uncontrollable.

Just as Mihai thought he saw him wavering he notice the sky had lightened just a bit. He could see better now and just this faint sense of hope came over him. They were going to do it!

"The suns rising, just a bit more. There isn't many left now," Mihai cried out.

Not many left? Shame, the ninetails thought. He could go like this all night he was sure of it. Even if he felt the pain in his muscles it felt good. He liked the idea of a challenge. It made his blood boil.

The sun started cracking over the horizon. The ghost flinching before starting to retreat. The relief that came with those last falling pokemon was immeasurable. Mihai sank to the ground Bann coming over to curl in his lap. The dunsparce tired beyond all relief from protecting the humans.

Asta sat in the middle of the path his tails swaying. He was waiting and hoping for the possibility of more coming. Though he doubted it after a second or two. He began grooming himself.

He never thought he’d be so happy to see the fucking sun rise in a long time.

Normally, this was something that Alexei would take for granted—but today, today was a day he gladly welcomed the sight of the sun breaking through the misty clouds that circled around Mount Pyre.

“Fuck, where did they all even come from in the first place,” he remarked, looking over at his now pretty much exhausted Charmeleon, along with the staggering Salamence. Surprisingly the Glaceon was still standing, ready to fire off all manner of Ice Shard just in case some last-minute attackers came straggling into the area. The Braviary wanted to take to the skies, but due to so much fighting, he was just plain flat-out fucking tired.

Hearing a squawk coming from the avian, Alexei sighed, before eventually recalling three of his four exhausted companions—he knew he still had Vincent left, and sent the Riolu out to join the Glaceon just in case some last-minute nasties decided to turn up.

“Honestly,” he began as he looked in Mihai’s direction, “…I have never been so glad to see the sunrise. How about you?” he joked with the other, looking over to where their food supplies had all been but abandoned.

Surprisingly, they hadn’t been touched, and he quickly reached for one, passing the other to the Ranger should he want to eat and rest up before they made their way down the mountain.

“That was insane,” he added quietly a few moments later.
