He couldn’t help but wonder why Lynette, of all his companions—had taken on a different hue.

“What happened to you?” was all he could ask. The last time he saw her, he could swear she wasn’t this…

Shiny?

Either way there was a different gleam to her now unlike the last time he’d seen her.

Idling around an empty arena, he continued to wonder what and how this had possibly occurred…

They were no longer alone—and from the looks of things they were squaring off against a Machamp.

Kind of a double-edged sword right there, but—

A sudden blast of condensed lunar energy flew from the Gardevoir’s arms raised up high—the opening fire of a Moonblast aimed at the massive, hulking Machamp.

The match was underway.

Gardevoir used Moonblast!

to king's delight, his opponent doesn't try to make conversation.

the MOONBLAST illuminates the sand it travels above in in hues of pink, and blue. BULKING UP, the machamp simply DYNAMIC PUNCHES through it. he feels the pain up and along his arm, but he continues on like a four-armed wrecking ball.

He was about to ask why the Gardevoir had suddenly attacked—

Before seeing the Machamp headed right their way.

“You know what to do,” he said—the words that allowed the Gardevoir to basically let loose.

It was going to be a near miss—if she got hit she would immediately fold—

However a sudden Expanding Force of psychic energy was launched, an attempt to push her opponent backwards and put some space between herself and the Machamp.

Gardevoir used Expanding Force to block the incoming Machamp and attempt to shove it backwards and away from her!

psychic was a natural weakness to machamp's fighting-type. it was an intelligent choice to utilize their advantage. the EXPANDING FORCE hits the on-coming machamp with a force that equals his own. every step felt as if gravity had increased twice-fold. all four arms swim against the barrier. any lesser pokemon would give up.

this was good training.

straining his BULKED UP muscles, he doesn't stop. doesn't quit. doesn't relent. until finally, he's close enough to deliver a powerful DOUBLE-EDGED shoulder tackle.[break]

The Expanding Force tactic was a good one, however the Machop line were known to be incredibly stubborn and relentless—never knowing when to give up.

As the Machamp closed the distance—

The dual-type then winked out of existence, using Teleport to skirt away from the incoming attack.

Lars then saw the Gardevoir materialize behind the Machamp, holding her arms out and summoning up another attack.

Gardevoir used Teleport and warped to another position, reappearing behind the Machamp! Gardevoir is preparing another attack from behind.

shoulders find purchase against nothing, powerful steps leading the fighting-type into an exaggerated, and uncontrolled movement. grooves form in the sand as he attempts to stop himself, powerful leg muscles assisting where an engorged upper body hinders. swinging himself around, he levels a steady, challenging gaze at the newly appeared gardevoir. he answers her presence with a VITAL CHOP.

The incoming Machamp would be met with a blast of rainbow-colored Psychic energy; an attempt to push away from the other in order to avoid the brunt of the attack.

Gardevoir were rather squishy physically, at least—so she had to keep her distance.

Gardevoir dodges for the most part (yet still gets hit) however she counters with a Psychic blast of energy!

all four arms come together in front of him, the psychic wave blasting, and washing over him like a tidal wave of pressure. grooves form in the sand once more as he's pushed back. with one final surge of strength, they explode outwards to dissipate the wave.

Apparently this one was, too.

The Vital Throw made to grab the Gardevoir, but she’d backed away—and this time released another Expanding Force to put some more distance between herself and those—hands.

Who knew what those hands had ~~man~~handled.

another expansion of force. another will matched against will. machamp knew the second he had hands on the psychic-type —— it was over.

Lars could only blink as Lynette kept her calm composure, stretching her hands out in front of her once more—as if looking to embrace the Machamp—

Only for the biggest blast of rainbow-colored Psychic energy to crash into the oncoming Fighting-type.

She knew she was thin as a twig and needed Gareth, her Gallade partner to tank the hits while she fired off blasts from the rear—so this was really an acid test of her tenacity.
