Since he was already out here literally waving a big ‘fuck you’ in the face of the very people who told him not to go out and stay home in Fortree—

Here he was, enjoying himself.

There were so many summer food stands—he’d even found the time to renew the ‘ramune partnership’ that he’d started a couple years back and was very pleased about it.

Either way—

People were getting out of the way at the sight of him ‘running’ around like a limp, wet noodle (which he actually was), leaning on a crutch while sampling all the summer treats.

Of course he had some Pokémon with him just in case someone decided to challenge him to a fight.

Yikes.

Not even getting a chance to break whilst the others are having fun, huh? Sometimes, Zahra wonders if being a ranger is really worth the hassle. Nevertheless, she's rather proficient when it comes to slacking off, a certain sleepiness settling in as she wonders the festival grounds for things of interest.

Of course, it doesn't take long for her to find it. With the odd movements of the crowd and the way they seem to whisper, she's drawn in by the cause of it all.

He was in the middle of eating a funny flavored snow cone that was marketed as “Fuzzy Navel” when he heard the familiar voice.

Turning around (or at least, around as best as he could manage) he was met with a familiar face—and chuckled.

“Been through worse, котенок,” he chuckled at the familiar voice before looking down and reaching to ruffle this pinkette’s hair.

Shit, he really did have a penchant for pink hair, did he?

“Working again?” he inquired curiously. Not too far behind him hovered a pensive-looking Chandelure.

Ollie barks in weary agreement, seemingly appearing out of nowhere after circling the plaza for any signs of disruptive activities. It's been a long day, stopping people in the midst of fistfights, participating in a few battles and even making a loose promise to meet with CIAN MAHER after hours. The hours seem to drag and the day just doesn't seem to end.

And it was back to the noodle analogy!

“Hey, Z, I am not a noodle,” he continued as he then pretended to turn her into an arm rest. “You’re fun-sized, you know that?”

The sight of the updated standings made him snort for a few moments before he took another bite out of his snow cone.

Her last sentence gave him an idea. Looking at her with this mischievous glint in his eyes, he then pointed to a nearby arena that had just been cleared out.

“You can do that now, you know. I have a Chandelure with me, we can try a one-on-one battle. C’mon, don’t be such a kill joy” he said, wiggling his eyebrows at her before pulling her along with him as he hobbled towards the battle ground.

“They’re not going to notice someone missing from patrol, it’s impossible you’re the only one working right now.”

Some people started to gather, but he paid them no mind.

“Hope you don’t mind if I do go first,” and with that the Chandelure’s eyes suddenly flashed before releasing the blast of Confuse Ray at the Absol.

While it was no Will-O-Wisp, it was a close-range Inferno.
