Nothing like a day out on the beach, enjoying the waves and basking in the sun. Mattis typically didn't go toward ocean towns or the sea, but sometimes it was a treat. He let his Pokemon out to play in the sand for a little bit, especially Scoria. The Onix was having so much fun digging under the sand before popping up beside him again.

But their fun was short lived. He was here on another task to help some more animals. Man, maybe he should give up rock collecting and become an animal rescuer. That would be fun.

Mattis was already getting sunburnt, cursing to himself as he reapplied as he approached the nest he was supposed to protect. Peering down in it, he saw some newly hatched Squirtles. "Damn, you guys are really cute, you know that?" He squatted down, looking at them closer.

That's when he heard Arkose bark, growling at some birds that were flying overhead. He covered his eyes, scowling. "Ah, man."

Wearing no shirt and only swim shorts and blowing a whistle he got super cheap at the onix. "You might hurt the turtles like that ya know, with your onix digging around like that." he comments as he decided this was a suitable intro for him "Oh. name's bryan delarosa by the way. You the other guy here to protect them?" he said seeing that the man already located the nest of squirtles. [break][break]

Bryan heard sqwuaking already, these mother fuckers were hungry? He sent out abby the absol and stared at it as it signaled to bryan danger was gonna be afoot soon. "razor wind them if they get too close abby." he said plopping his butt in the sand and watching.

Mattis looked up when he heard someone speak, blinking once, twice, before registering that he was talking to him. "Oh, hey. Yeah, she's calmed down now," he promised, offering a smile to him.

"Oh. Oh, right! Hey, I'm Mattis Eriksen. Nice to meet you, and pleasure doing business with ya." He scooted over on the sand to make a spot for him to sit, friendly as ever.

He noticed the Absol Bryan sent out. "Nice Absol. Abby, you said?" he asked, tilting his head a bit. Mattis beckoned his Lycanroc. "You have permission to use STONE EDGE if they get too close to the nest. But don't hurt the Squirtles. I mean it."

Arkose grunted at him, before pacing away and sitting down, staring up at the sky.

[attr="class","bryanbody"] "So it seems." He says as he squinted at the onix, seeing that it did actually calm down. But, it was still a good choice for defending a nest, bryan couldn't lie. [break][break]
"Yeah this is abby, she's a bit strange. Don't mind her though she wont bite." he explains staring at the same spot where absol was looking, he couldn't spot any birds or any predators at the moment but he had a hunch it'd change soon. [break][break]
"You go to the beach often?" he asks trying to make some small talk.

Mattis laughed a little, looking at the Absol. Abby may not be paying attention to him, but he sure was paying attention to her. "She's a cutie. I don't think I've run into one before."

Arkose kept looking back and forth from the nest and the sky, like he wanted to come over and look at the Squirtles. But with a pointed look from Mattis and him mouthing "I'm watching you," the wolf Pokemon huffed and faced ahead. "He's a drama queen. Sorry," he said with a chuckle.

"The beach? Occasionally!" Mattis put his hands out behind him, leaning back. "I travel around a lot, so sometimes I come to the beach to explore the area. What about you? Enjoy the waves and the sand, maybe have a drink or two?"

"Cheers." Lifting the flask towards the other trainer and the onix. [break][break]

He was kind of lost on what to talk about, Bryan wasn't the most social person in the world and interacting with new people wasn't always easy. However the peace didn't last long as some wingull now began to try and swoop down on the babies! [break][break]

"Psycho cut! Quickly abby!" he orders as the pokemon sent out psychic blades towards the pesky birds trying to disturb the babies.

Mattis raised his brows at Bryan, watching as he took a swig of whatever he had hiding away in that flask of his. Probably liquor, as the other had mentioned before. Well, if the guy could hold his alcohol, then who was he to hold him back?

It'd make things more fun too.

"Pick your poison, I guess. Certain things mess me up, big time." He reflected back to his previous interaction with Alexei Ivanov, the amount of vodka he had taken in and how he felt like shit afterwards. He laughed sheepishly at himself, shaking his head slowly.

Matt's own self pity was interrupted by a cry from Bryan. He looked up, gasping. "Arkose, STONE EDGE!" he ordered, fending off any that may have strayed from Abby's attack.

[attr="class","bryanbody"]The stone edge collided into the wingulls not fended off by the psycho cut and scared them off as they managed to hit spots that caused an extra spot of pain for the birds. "Nice shot! That onix looked like a marksman for a second." he compliments the duo. The wingulls sqwuaked at the two and fired a water gun at both of them before continuing to fly off in a random direction, their meal for the day spoiled. [break][break]
bryan turned to look at the squirtles, it seemed like they were bothered more by the sudden noise and commotion more than anything else going on around them. He let out a long sigh "Of course it was wingulls, terrorists of the beach." he said crossing his arms over his chest and walking over to the squirtles who were still rather startled and pat them on their head, but he was an awkward individual so they were thrown off by it at first and water gunned him in the face for it. [break][break]

he continued to pat them though, ignoring it and they soon grew to enjoy the pats. "So what messes you up exactly?" he asked since they were interrupted before.

Matt watched with intense blue eyes as the stone edge landed successfully. Yes! He gave a proud smile to Arkose, who seemed pleased enough with his own success. Scoria gave her own noise of approval, moving to surround the nest and the two boys almost protectively. He patted her nose gently.

"Ha, thanks! Arky is a trouble maker, but he definitely knows what to do," he said, nodding proudly at his Lycanroc. Matt shielded his face at the water gun, which made Arkose growl.

He turned his head in time to see Bryan receive a water gun to the face. Matt couldn't help the snort that he let out before laughing. "Sorry. I wasn't expecting them to just blast you in the face like that," he said, looking over the side to peer in the nest. He leaned back before one of them could think to do the same to him.

Lifting his brows in surprise, he blinked before acknowledging him again. "Ah, yeah!" Matt had forgotten they were talking about drinks.

"Vodka, really. I don't know what it is about it, but it makes me drunk in a couple of drinks. Not to mention the killer headache I have after I drink it." He rubbed his head as though it was an after thought.
