a hand raises to brush a piece of lettuce off his chest.

"i'll leave her alone if you survive, which you won't unless you start eating and drinking."

he takes a step towards the door.

"so please, if you have to throw the next sandwich i give you, at least eat half of it first."

[attr="class","beck"]rage disappears in an instant, replaced by something akin to a facade, but not quite. whatever it is, even beckett, of all people, finds it odd.

"sure."

despite his response, he lingers even after the door's pulled shut, watching for a reaction of any kind. he finds nothing.

a while later and a bit after running into Madeleine Miro, he returns not with chicken and black beans, but with a bag of junk food: burgers of some kind, along with fries and a soda.

the cell door opens.

"you up?"

"i won't tell if you don't."

he places the drink beside them before extending over the rest of the bag: inside are two burgers and an order of large fries.

what he doesn't say, however, is that one of the burgers is meant for him.

"eat."

he continues to eye the brown bag as if expecting her to hand him the extra burger. damn, girl.

"we're likely going to ask you questions, get to know you a bit better, then try and make you work for us."

[attr="class","beck"]despite the change in melody's demeanor, he remains steadfast, almost unreadable.

to answer her question:

"because you are what the youngsters call an...influencer?"

he's eighty percent sure he said it right. he'll need to double-check with priam conrad later.

"you have a following. people who support you. people who can be turned to fit our agenda."
