and with that, he steps towards the exit, guiding her along as he leads the way. he does his best to pay no mind to his barkeep friend but it's difficult to when they call out towards him. chuckling, he turns, makes really quick small talk, then tells them he'll close his tab some other time. for now, he only really has one thing on his mind.

or one person, really, and he's holding her hand right now.

it's funny how quickly perspectives can change. slateport used to be busy, loud, and rather dull, but now, in the near-dead of night, he actually finds it really pleasant.

"i'm starting to like this city now. it isn't too bad with you here."

with a gentle tug, he starts walking back towards his apartment, flashing her a warm smile as he does.

even in his drunken stupor, he knows better than to pry, though he has his suspicions. his mind races back to their day, to when they had first come across each other, and he remembers then about the plans she said she had.

he's pulled back into the moment when he feels her weight on him. it feels nice, warm, and he squeezes her hand in return.

Once more, she laughs. And yet, despite this, she does agree: there’s not much to miss out on at Slateport, but spending time with Uriah may be just that. She smiles at him.

Unlike Uriah, while drunk, Sol doesn't have enough sense not to pry.

She should have probably guessed the answer, and when it comes, it isn’t all that surprising.

Probably because it reminds her of the way things are with her own family (as small as her family may be now), and because even if she doesn’t live in Slateport anymore, her father’s opinions and decisions still weigh heavily upon Sol.

And yet, when hearing Uriah talk about how he hates his father, she can’t really relate to that.

Still, she doesn’t have to in order to give her reply:

”Uri, you’re old enough to live wherever the fuck you want.” She smirks because it’s true; because these are the words she told herself when deciding to move to Mossdeep, even if to Uriah they might not be of much use. Things like those are complicated, after all.

his words are void of any sarcasm because honestly, he means it. he returns her grin, tugging her into his apartment building just as they arrive.

the elevator doors close, drawing an exhale out of him. he leans in, pressing his shoulder against hers to whisper:

It’s a joke, but it does briefly remind Sol of exactly who she is and who Uriah is. That while this may be her private life, she’s a captain, and she’s his captain, and some people would never approve of this. Her father sure wouldn’t, but who gives a fuck about what Sol’s father thinks?

The elevator doors shut and she looks at him, noticing how close he is. She doesn’t mind it, and she even presses a little closer to him.

The elevator keeps going up, and a hand is raised to rest on his chest, tugging on his shirt. With surprising gentleness, she pulls him closer, and down low enough to cover the miniscule height difference that exists between them, and then, when the elevator finally comes to a stop, she kisses him.

It’s quick, and there’s a smirk when she pulls away.

”You don’t have to be nervous.”

And, just like that, Sol steps out of the elevator.

of course she isn't; why would she be? jumbled thoughts run through his head, looking to overpower and possibly ruin what's to come. thankfully, her touch pulls him out of it, only to push him down an entirely different pit.

he returns the kiss a little too late. she pulls away, leaving him stunned as she steps out of the elevator.

but surprisingly, his nerves start to fade, especially at the sight of her smirk.

"okay."

and after a breath, he steps after her, narrowly avoiding walking into the closing elevator doors. what a mood killer that would've been.

soon, they reach his familiar apartment, closing the door behind him. it's not as dark as it should be; the drawn curtains allow the city lights to shine through, illuminating just enough.

It’s not difficult at all.

He’s thinking too much, and that is obvious.

But, eventually, he does figure it out, and Sol finds herself between Uriah and the door.
[break][break]
This time, the kiss isn’t short, but it is sweet, and passionate, and probably much rougher and messier than what they both realize while kissing – as it always seems to be the case with drunken kisses. There’s the scent of alcohol, and the taste of it too, but Sol doesn’t mind either of these things, and her arms easily raise to wrap around his neck as she pulls herself closer, being all too caught up in the moment.

There are no words, because sometimes, there’s really no need for words – especially with Sol.
