the left side of his face has swollen. he can't think through the pain, can't make sense of anything but summer's words cutting ribbons against him. later, he'll be able to parse it all together, know that she was saving him, but his face twists. he sputters blood. 

prescott senior shrugs away from summer's hand, but there is satisfaction on his lips. he tosses the soiled kerchief before knox and steps away. "you'll deal with the fallout you've caused," he says to summer. "get your team together and convince our partners we're still worth their time." 

an attendant approaches knox and dumps a handful of pokeballs on top of him. they roll about and he taps two at random. his empoleon and greninja emerge; the former helps him to his feet and the latter gathers the rest of his pokeballs, hiding them under his tongue. no need to receive a ticket for carrying more than 6 upon him.

at his feet, knox limps towards the front door, past summer without a second glance.
