“yeah? fun.” he hesitates to confirm, “like an adventure, almost.”

reve thinks for a moment longer. maybe fun wasn't quite the right word, but he knows that in the fight against rocket, there’s no one else he’d rather have by his side than artemis. his best friend.

he watches as artemis continues. “i know it’s dangerous, i’m not five, i know what they’ve done. well, as much as what the public gets to hear. but… if no one does it, it’ll just continue to be dangerous. people are dying, artemis. this might change things.”
“you don’t need to be worried.” he hesitates. “it would be okay. we could do it. you and me — we’d be a good team for this sort of thing, i know it.” artemis’s mystery gift of a way with words combined with his photography could lead to breakthroughs.

artemis has good reasons to dissuade him. the danger of it all — it did seem intimidating, reve couldn’t lie. but every dangerous job had to be done by someone. reve knows he is not immune to this rule. there’s nothing special or exceptional about him, in the case that something did happen. nothing that would set him apart from any other person becoming a victim of rocket.

…now that he’s thinking about it like this, maybe it would be for the best if artemis didn’t do it. maybe reve shouldn’t let him. reve zajac is replaceable, artemis chary is the furthest thing from it. artemis is someone special. for more reasons than his fame.

he hesitates, looking to artemis’s face again. he makes up his mind. he won’t push more for artemis to participate. he could do this on his own.[break][break]
