”anything that hides the morgue smell,” somehow, she manages to deliver it in a mild joking tone. ”floral or spicy, really.” she may or may not have a ton of pumpkin candles at home… he doesn’t need to know that. yet.

”thank you again,” she extends a hand almost shyly, uncertain of exactly how to treat him. superior, boss, colleague, friend? uncharted territory makes her weary.

and when he slips her his business card, she glances down at it. her attention lingers on the cell number. it brings a slight smile.

”i’ll be sure to call,” is offered as another thought occurs. she reaches into one of the pockets in her lab coat, running a thumb over her own business card before pulling it out and handing it over. ”if you need anything, i’ll be around.” the game of who’s going to call first might just be interesting enough.
