She has always had a hard time feeling comfortable at places like these.

Too fancy. Too nice. Too damn expensive.

By Ceri’s standards, it’s nothing she has earned (and probably nothing she would ever be able to afford without feeling uneasy when paying the bill), and yet it’s with terrible ease that she swirls her glass of wine while smiling at the man before her. As if she belongs. As if she’s not uncomfortable at all.

”I’m really glad we could come here today, I’ve missed you.”

Sweet.

Sweet are her words. Sweet is the smile she gives him. ‘Sweet’ is just about everything about her, isn’t it?

It’s not for anyone that she’d bother with dressing up and coming all the way to Lilycove all for the sake of going to a fancy restaurant, but sometimes things like those can be worth it, perhaps if only to catch up with a good friends…

at her question, he could only chuckle.

There’s an almost melodic quality to the way she says his name, even if the tone it comes in is as if the perfect mixture of reproaching and whining. What follows it is a chuckle – gentle and light.

In many ways, yes, because they have been friends for a long time, because she enjoys his company, because he’s nice to her, and undeniably so, also because they do things like these together – things she knows most people wouldn’t bother with for someone like her. Even if she knows all too well that things like going to fancy restaurants probably mean nothing to him. It’s still nice, isn’t it?

It really is nothing new, but she still just so slightly puffs her cheeks when looking at him, even if it’s definitely hypocritical of her to say such things.

She could bother with listing all of the reasons why not getting enough sleep is bad, she knows them by heart, but instead of doing so she simply chuckles, taking a sip from her glass of wine.

”Woah, hey, I’ll have you know I slept a whole five hours last night, so who’s the irresponsible one here?”

It’s with a smirk that she winks at him, definitely also not bothering with mentioning the fact that she pulled an all-nighter the night before that.

five hours isn't too different from four, but sometimes, that extra hour hits hard.

"when am i not?"

the smile he gives is soft, subtle, but genuine.

he raises the glass of wine to his lips, sipping right as their food is served. it looks exquisite, and it's only their first course.

but, again, to rory, this is nothing out of the ordinary. he doesn't even look twice at what's served — he just reaches for his fork instead.
