WHEN KATHERINE ADVANCES, she wields the power of her patron to peculiar effect. Innately, her abilities pulse with wizened vein of the distortion realm. As anti-matter manages to stave off the branches initial assaults, Katherine and Priam may realize the key to accessing the depths of the tree is not brute force... but dimensional tampering.

Of course, such a discovery would have been made by the crime syndicate in due time. As Unown slip out of spatial cracks like lost lambs, one way or another, the syndicate would find a way.

Branches swarm around Katherine as she takes one more step; however, what she sees is not what she expects. A thick membrane of purplish black stares back at her: the ribbon of another realm cutting into the tree's field.

Finally, the branches become too much. A large limb swings from the side and smacks Katherine backward and toward Priam with a horrible crack.

Not what she expects is an understatement, to say the least.

Their experiment proves one thing to be true: reaching the core of the tree requires no strength, but the fluidity of anti-matter (or other, similar methods). It’s eye-opening and confirms her suspicion that the tree was indeed protecting something…

But what?

She barely manages to make it through, but ultimately, the final step is taken. She’s past the tough exterior of the tree and she’s rewarded with a long stare into what hid inside. A phenomenon not unlike one of her distortion world portals reveals itself, myriad shades of black and purple collapsing into one another in a vortex of sorts.

She almost whispers a prayer to Giratina then and there, but a large branch retaliates, punishing the Malevolent. Her unwanted presence was no longer tolerated, it seemed, as she’s whacked away and back towards Priam.

A cry of pain escapes her before a hiss follows, "What the fuck—" Her Pokemon rush to her but are staved off with a lazy gesture, "I am fine... It's just... Priam, I think..."

he'd help katherine back to her feet, but he was deterred with the same motion that stopped her pokemon.

priam swallows as he processes what has transpired before them. it was nothing that he could have imagined, but it wasn't entirely improbable given that he has experienced a similar event before during the soiree.

"d-do you think it leads to the same thing as the one at the party on mossdeep?" he asks.

reality reconstructed based on their old memories and wishful dreams would be the destination should be the case, but the corruption that follows soon after was not something that could be escaped from easily as well.

"we can't reach it now anyways, right?"

their tools at hand were powerful, though it doesn't exactly follow that they're the right ones for the job. priam is clueless as ever with the situation, relying more on katherine's insight for this matter.

maybe he would've if it wasn't part of his job. there were only a few instances where he'd be taking things seriously, and a major chunk of it involved work, which investigation of the tree was.

"i'd have to report our findings to the boss though." there's no point in keeping it secret as katherine was still a part of the organization when he took this job. "want me to omit parts?" he asks with a chuckle.

it's an act of courtesy to ask at the very least.
