When was the last time he’d come out to Shoal Cave?

Some time ago, definitely.

He knew he was only two short from the entire collection of all existing Ice-types, but he was pretty sure that the last two he needed were definitely going to be the hardest to find.

Considering that one of them was a Rotom… this was definitely going to be difficult.

At least, the Sandshrew, he hoped—would be easier.

But what if he ran into the Ground-type Sandshrew instead of the Ice-type one? Well, wouldn’t that complicate matters by a hundredfold.

Either way, he was back again, and at it.

He was determined to complete the entire collection of Ice-types now.

Encountering an Alolan Sandshrew was definitely along the same lines of say, meeting a Unown Pokémon in the wild.

Were they just that damned rare?

The first thing he spotted was a sentient snowflake—a Cryogonal. Too bad he already had one of those, and so he left the snowflake alone, which for some reason was humming weird-sounding shit.

Did it sound like what those ‘televangelist’ people were saying at three in the morning when he would accidentally leave the TV on and switch it to a channel before realizing what was going on?

Maybe…

The next thing he would encounter made his eyebrows go up—

Not out of wonder, but out of disappointment.

It was a shame, really, since he already had one of these particular Pokémon, and they were really large, really fuzzy, and really…

Well, the one he owned in this case was overly friendly and loved digging up truffles the first chance it would get!

…at least he had a free source of truffles, at any rate.

He then left the Mamoswine alone to continue searching for food—he was well-aware (and well-familiar) with the fact that majority of the Pokémon that ran around Shoal Cave had families of their own, at least.

All, except that one fuck-ass bastard of a Glalie who was, he was certain, was still running amok on the lower levels of Shoal Cave, acting like a complete fucking demon surrounded by will-o-wisp flames that strangely, burned blue and not red (at least, that was the image of the Glalie in his mind’s eye).

The last thing to catch his attention—unfortunately—

Well, it was a mount—just that it wasn’t Hengroen. He wondered idly where the Glastrier was running. Probably somewhere in another unexplored cavern system only the equine knew about.

This was a different kind of horse altogether, and after checking the trading boards he frequented, there were no trade requests for this one. Ah well.

“Go on,” he remarked quietly, giving a tired little sigh as he shook his hand at the very large Mudsdale. “Go on, back to where you came from, pretty sure you have a family somewhere. Go!”

He watched, and waited—

Tick, tock…

And eventually, the Mudsdale turned around and left.

So much for today’s trip.
