All these are things Sol considers, but instead of doing any of them, she simply looks at him, the tears no longer coming. Her stare is cold, emotionless, even if her eyes are reddened and still watery.

Sol clenches her fist, knuckles growing white because of the sheer force. If her nails were any longer, if she didn’t trim them regularly, she would probably draw blood, and yet that still wouldn’t hurt or annoy her as much as his words.

How dare he imply that she survived because of him?

She went through hell, and he sided with their enemies, with the people who tried to kill her in the battlefield countless times. If Sol survived, it’s because of her own efforts, because of the people who were there for her, because of luck. Not because of NIKO MANNER.

He holds her, and while it may seem like a simple gesture, it’s not, because there’s only a handful of people who Sol would ever allow to do things like those. Perhaps even less than that. Perhaps only a couple.
