It was low tide again.

He knew he could never access the other reaches of Shoal Cave if it was high tide, considering the fact that all the colder caves were on the lower levels—unless the entire place remained in a perpetual state of low tide.

But he knew that was impossible.

A chuckle escaped him for a few moments.

“Come on, I only need two more, who are you to deny me…”

He wondered if he was going insane at that point.

Just two short, and he could take a breather! Well, at least until new ‘variants’ started appearing again. Or some such, the world worked in strange ways when it came to discovering new Pokémon types.

The first thing that turned up was something—he furrowed his brows at the sight.

“I already have you,” he muttered to himself, only making sure it was as quiet as possible because he had a suspicion that majority of the Pokémon in the cave could understand him despite him not speaking so much whenever he would show up for the—weekly sojourns.

Yes, they had gotten interrupted for a good while, however things had started up once more and well, he was here and back at it.

Skirting around the Vanilluxe, he decided to leave the strange ice cream-shaped Pokémon to its own devices.

Taking another turn, he continued down a new path, idly wondering if this was one of the many paths that his Glastrier took whenever it started wandering around the lowest depths of Shoal Cave.

This time it was another Ground-type that had come barreling in.

While he wasn’t as familiar with the Ground-types as he was with the Ice-types that called shoal Cave home, fact of the matter was this wasn’t what he was looking for, either.

Sighing, he left the Donphan alone—much like Mamoswine, he was certain that the Pokémon was looking for truffles to sniff out and bring back to whatever family they had.

He didn’t want to break an entire family apart now, did he?

Seeing the path split off into two branches, he then pondered if it was left or right.

“Last time I went right, so…”

With that he went left, this time.

Hands mentally crossed and praying…

Were the heavens mocking him?

Was it too much to ask for one singular ice-type Sandshrew?!

He was pretty sure he’d seen the Vanilluxe when he’d left that one earlier—however, well—

“Really?” he said with a sigh as the Vanillish sailed by him, completely and totally oblivious to the human that was walking ridiculously close to where Lars was headed right now.

“Go on. Return where you came from now—” he said, waving his hand in the Ice-type’s direction.

Sighing, he wondered if he had to wander deeper into the caves just to find what he was looking for.

This was definitely going to take a while…
