Why is this forest so confusing!?

René thought in a panic as they wandered these forests for hours now! The Full moon was out and thankfully lit the forest around him. How René, the man with the knight's blood of old in his veins, gets so hopefully lost in such a tiny forest on the map he will never know! René felt like the fae folk of his homeland was messing with his mental processes in such a manner.

Had René wandered too close to a faerie ring without notice? Did he drink from a fairy fountain without his notice, did he slight the fae folk in some manner he is not sure of in this strange land of Hoenn? René lets out a desperate groan as they recognize the same rock for the seventh time that night. What has he done to gather such ire!

René, thankfully this time around, encountered an unfamiliar cycle in this loop around this rock as the Kalos man waved at the blond man Laurence Anderson ahead of him and yelled in his intense Kalos accent.
