She kneels next to the fire, using a stick to push in the small pile of leaves she's using as kindling. It catches fire immediately, making the campfire blaze come to life even further.

When she pulls herself back to sit next to her partner, she is mesmerized by both the smoke and the vapor from her warm breath.

"You did wonderful as well, miss Stone!"

Gwen returns the smile before pausing to think.

"We could send a short prayer for the night to continue to be as quiet and calm as it is now. Give thanks for the beautiful day we've had and the hard work we put in."

"a prayer?"

not one to be caught out often, she blinks, unsure of how to respond because she's the furthest thing from being a religious person. her faith lies elsewhere; on herself, perhaps.

still, it's easy to don the mask, to smile and dip her head slightly.

"that sounds lovely. you'll have to walk me through it, though. i'm not usually one for prayer."

"Mhm."

Gwen holds out her hand for Ana to take. Whether or not the woman truly believes in what they are going is not important, what is is the fact she is willing to do it at all.

"That is quite alright, you can just listen while I speak."

And then, when the wind blows past them and stirs up the cinders, she gently squeezes Ana's hand and begins to murmur the quiet, thankful prayer. It is over quickly and she slips her hand out of Ana's to breathe out a quiet, satisfied sigh.

"Well, shall we eat then? I packed us both some meals for the day. They should still be warm, but we can easily warm them over the fire if necessary."

her hand finds gwen's, holding hers as their gentle prayer begins and ends. she smiles, looking at her partner after.

"that felt really nice."

new, strange, but nice.

the talk of food pulls her attention away.

"we should!"

she smiles, shifting closer to the fire.

"is this your first time camping, gwen?"

"Yes! It is just something short and sweet, but meaningful."

Gwen continues to smile, leaning over the fire now to heat up their meals. Oil and water sizzle in the pan and flames wink up and over the lip. They almost look like will-o-wisps.

"No, no, it is not. I used to camp quite frequently with my father."

With a scrape of the pan, she shifts the food off and over to separate plates. Somehow, she manages to make even a rough, unappetizing meal look pretty. She passes over a fork and knife as well, still smiling.

"I like camping."

it's with a smile that she accepts the plate, admiring how pretty it looks despite the bare ingredients on it. gwen has a talent; is she a cook of some kind?

"i like it, too. my family never really went, though. they always seemed to prefer glamping."

"i made sure to get my share of camping in sinnoh."

The word is a funny one, though, and she muses over it with some degree of furrowed brow amusement. With a long stick, the woman shifts hot embers around and props up new logs for the fire.

"Is it different from camping?"
