it's a bright day out; hot, considering the current season in hoenn. she continues to sweat, still not used to the warmer temperaments of the region compared to sinnoh. but at least she won't get a farmer's tan.

but she also sweats because of the mission at hand.

they duck underneath a branch, heading deeper into the forest.

No matter how familiar with it, wandering through the woods for work is not exactly Percy’s idea of how to spend an afternoon, but alas, his job has taken him to worse places and with worse company too.

While the words could be taken as teasing, they’re said matter-of-factly, an eyebrow being quirked as he looks at the woman beside him.

A little ahead of them, a playful Zorua jumps onto a leaf pile, a few leaves in shades of yellow and orange scattering at the moment of impact.

”Journalism in a place like Hoenn? Busy, as I’m sure you can imagine. How about you? Doubt you have much time to spend trekking through the woods.”

because if there's one thing ana values above all else, it's the truth.

"equally busy, but i find that a nice walk in the woods often helps clear my mind."

this isn't one of those times, however.

her gardevoir chirps as her TRACE's picked up something. she floats forward, leading the charge.

Journalistic integrity is the cornerstone of Percy’s career, after all, no matter how much that has often angered certain people. At least ANA STONE doesn’t seem like the type, but then again, most people aren’t until there’s an article that mentions painful truths about them that they don’t quite like...

Before he can say anything else, her Gardevoir seems to pick up on something and leads the way, leaving them to follow along and push through thick foliage that obscures the path ahead. It’s at that point that Percy makes sure to pick up his Zorua, being well aware of how treacherous the woods can be when stepping away from the most travelled routes.

It would be bad if they were to fall into a ditch or something, after all.

thankfully, with the help of her gardevoir, they avoid falling into a ditch. she leads them over to an incline or a cliff of sorts, and it's there that a small dedenne awaits them. its cheek pouches are puffed out as it points over the ledge.

"what is it, little friend?"

she approaches, moving past her gardevoir before kneeling down on the ground beside the electric-type. it's then that she peers over the ledge, seeing...

Too bad there’s no time to answer such questions, because they soon find themselves standing by a ditch. A Dedenne puffs its cheeks, cheek pouch full of air, eagerly pointing towards the dark pit – almost as if it wants them to look down.

When Percy does, he immediately sees why…

There’s the remnants of a bicycle, and a few metres away, there’s also it’s barely conscious rider – lying down and injured after such a dangerous fall. Blood stains the ground.

Holy fuck.

Deep breath. Composure.
[break][break]
”That looks serious. I’ll call emergency services, but they’ll take a while to get here. Can you have your Gardevoir teleport down there? Should we go down there?”

The Zorua is then called back, since this is far from an enjoyable walk at this point.

slowqueen (f) own tempo - heal pulse, psychic, surf, disable, power gem, yawn

something akin to insouciance paints across her features at the sight, flicking for just a few moments before being replaced by concern. she steels herself, taking in the sight before her.

"i can't teleport him up if he's not stable."

and by the looks of it, he definitely isn't. she looks over to her gardevoir, reaching out to place a hand on her before nodding.

they TELEPORT down, and thankfully, the ground holds under her weight. she assesses the state of the athlete, seeing things that are clearly broken.

"you'll be okay..."

a pokeball pops open, and from it comes her slowqueen.

"help with the pain as much as you can, but don't heal his wounds."

because there's no telling what might be going on inside his body.

the slowqueen nods, then starts with her HEAL PULSES.

While Ana descends to the bottom of the ditch by way of her Gardevoir’s TELEPORT, a call is made, Percy finding himself thankful that his Rotom phone somehow still has service even this far out into the woods. Watching the woman’s actions, he calmly explains the situation in a few words, a sigh leaving him when he hangs up the phone.

”They should be here soon. How is he looking?”

Composed as he may seem, in all honesty, he’d much rather not look at the athlete himself. It looks like it was a pretty bad fall, but at least Ana seems to know what to do (or, well, what would be logical to do).

and it's exactly why she's here.

but percy doesn't need to know that, does he?

she places a hand against the athlete's cheek, providing what little comfort she could at the moment. it's the least she can do until help arrives.
