it was one thing lei found relaxing in a way. at least the berries were growing nicely. he can use some of them for his pokemon, and the rest...well. he'll have to come up with that later. right now, though, he's half-distracted by picking berries from a bush and humming to himself.

Unfortunately for @lei, Vicki was once again present as he tried to complete a mundane task.

She had come out with her mom, who was busy actually picking berries elsewhere for a cobbler. Vicki had wandered off and was busy eating the berries.

She reached for a juicy looking one right as Lei did, from the other side of the bush so she hadn't noticed him at first. Pigpen was at her feet, playing with an apricorn he had found earlier.

lei reached for a berry right as someone else did. so lost in his thoughts, he hadn't noticed-

"oh! sorry!" he couldn't tell who the stranger was, and pulled his hand away apologetically. "you can go ahead! there's plenty more." assuming people don't feast on the ripest ones.

"Oh! Thanks!" Vicki wouldn't turn it down, plucking the nice, ripe berry and popping it into her mouth. An Unfezant passed by overhead, no doubt also drawn by the berries.

Peeking her head around to see who it was, Vicki's face lit up when she realized it was @lei. "Oh! Hey! Fancy seeing you here!"

the shadow of the unfezant passing by overhead pulled his attention away for just a second. not for long, though, until he turns back to vicki. "guess everyone's coming to pick berries." he's tired, and just wants to focus on small talk for right now as he picks a few more berries.

A guy with a farmer's tan passes by as well, who Vicki scooches out of the way for.

"I did! We're going to make a cobbler tonight and mom wanted to pick up some good berries. Why are you out here?" Well, obviously @lei was picking berries, but why was he picking berries? Who was he working for?

"Using these fresh berries will really help. My mom says stuff always tastes the best when it's fresh." Her mom also liked to keep a little garden back home. Part of Vicki thought it was also to save money, since her mom had to work so hard since she was by herself, but she didn't want to be a huge downer to @lei.

"Do you like to cook, Mister Lei?" She plucked another berry and nibbled on it.

"it depends on what it is. i mostly like making sweets." which is exactly why he had volunteered for the bake sale in question. he plucks a few more berries; he thinks that's enough for now. he can always get more if he needs them. "do you cook?"

Vicki opened her mouth to answer @lei's question when her phone pinged. The noise was a sparking noise like you might hear in a movie. Taking her phone out and checking it she gasped at what she saw.

"Ohmygosh! Lei, I gotta go! My mom is going to GET me if I don't hurry up! See you!" She gave the guy a thumbs up, mentally promising herself to answer his questions some other time, before she stormed off like hell was on her heels to go meet back up with her mom.
