"No? Why would I make that up?"

Eli was inclined to pout, since she found it so amusing that he had never seen or been ice skating. He puffed out his cheeks, huffing. His breath came out like a puff of smoke.

When she stood, his Arcanine made a small noise of protest, turning his massive head to look at his trainer. With a small sigh, Eli put Helios back in his ball, missing the warmth that his pokemon provided already.

However, he allowed Ceri to take his hand, his cheeks red from the weather? Ceri herself? He wouldn't admit that. But he let her drag him away, toward the pond.

"I've seen it before. I just... couldn't remember what it was called. And it never made sense to me."

Not that he was putting up a solid argument.

It isn’t really and Ceri knows as much, because she had never had a chance to try regular skating until moving to Hoenn, and when she finally tried it, she sucked at it and had fallen like a hundred times. It’s probably what will happen to Elliott now, she also knows that, but knowing sure doesn’t stop her from leading him towards the ice.

”It’s soooo much fun, you’ll see! I used to ice skate all the time back in Circhester, I can teach you.”

There’s only one way to find out, and it’s eagerly and excitedly that she takes him to rent some skates. It’s been years since she has done this kind of thing, and truth be told, she looks forward to skating with him.

It didn't seem like it was easier than normal roller skating. It was on ice, for fuck's sake! But, some how, Ceri managed to drag him out to the rink with the promise of teaching him.

He wondered if it was going to go well...

The skates felt weird, especially when he stood up. Balancing on the blades was weird as Eli tried to fumble his way like a baby deer to the rink. He wasn't typically this uncoordinated.

"I don't know..."

The second he stepped foot on the ice, Eli slipped, his legs parting in a split and making him slip onto the ice.

"FUCK!"

Unlike Elliott, Ceri feels no discomfort in a situation like this. There’s nothing weird about the skates, nothing weird about balancing on the blades, and there’s definitely nothing weird about the way she gracefully glides forward the moment she’s on ice, nor about the way she quickly turns with incredibly ease onto to see him fall spectacularly.

She tries to stop herself from laughing, but in the end it results to be impossible to do this. It’s just too funny, even if she still pusher self to approach, a hand being then offered to him:

Ceri's laughing at him, with that seemingly perfect voice of hers. Elliott pushed himself up from the ice, giving her a scowl as he tried to get back on his feet without her help.

With no avail.

He just found himself down on the ground again, having not even lifted himself up from the ice. Dammit, how was she able to move around so gracefully when he was flopping around like a Magikarp out of water?

"I'm fine," he insisted, trying one more time.

Until he just gave up and reached for her hands. Ceri would have to pull hard, because Elliott was being as unhelpful as possible.

He sure doesn’t look like it, but pointing it out would probably only frustrate Elliott even more. So, all she can do is stand there and watch as he flails around, falling over and over every time he tries to get up. She considers giving him a “You got this!” but that would probably only sound mocking…

”...You’re so stubborn.” It’s not said reproachingly but with a soft laugh, gently squeezing his hand when he finally takes her offer. Still, pulling him up proves harder than what Ceri imagined it would be, and she ends up having to use both hands to get it done.

”Okay! So… You’re gonna take a step and then just let yourself glide forward, that’s the easiest part of ice skating! You can hold onto me for balance if you want! I promise I won’t laugh at you… too much.” Ceri beams, a giggle escaping her.

How could she not tease him in this kind of situation?

"You shouldn't make fun of people who can't ice skate," he tried to shoot back at her.

Luckily, Elliott finally managed to get back on his feet with Ceri's help, though he looked awkward with his legs spread apart. He tried to bring them in closer, to stand like her, but he felt like when he moved, he was going to fall down again.

This was a terrible idea.

"You know, the time you ask me to teach you something... I will remember this day. And I will get back at you for it."

Now sworn on revenge, Elliott made sure to perform each step with what he liked to call "full of revenge." He wobbled a bit, keeping his hands on Ceri's arms while he got the hang of it.

He only let go to try a small loop around by himself. When he came circling back to Ceri, he grabbed her waist because that was his best way to stop.

"Hey. I did it!"

Failing at things can be frustrating, and Ceri knows that all too well, but shouldn’t failure be expected when he has never even ice skated before? What did he think would happen? It’s not like he’d put on the skates and instantly pull off a triple axel.

It’s hard for her to understand why he’s so frustrated with this, but she decides not to tease him further to make sure he can enjoy the experience at least a little… Until he mentions getting back at her, that is.

While he holds onto her arm, a hand rests on his bicep, and looking up at him, she gives him her best ‘adorable begging puppy pokémon stare’ while also pouting.

”...You’d really do something that mean to me?”

It’s a cheap move and Ceri knows it, but at least she’s quickly distracted from it when he lets go to try to skate a full loop on his own.

She claps her hands together as she watches him, an excited smile illuminating her expression while bright pink hues colour her cheeks when he suddenly grabs onto her waist.

”Eli! You did it!”

As if by impulse, her arms wrap around his neck, pulling him into a hug that causes them to glide back a little.

"And it'll taste so sweet," he said with an evil looking grin.

There was no way in hell he'd let Ceri get away with this. He'd find something she wasn't good at, and he'd watch her struggle at it. There was something in there, and Elliott was determined to find it at this point.

As he came skating back to her, she wrapped her arms around his neck. The feeling of her arms there, holding onto him so that they would both glide over the ice... it made that strange feeling flare up again.

Elliott opened his mouth to say something, anything, to her. But, as he did so, he feet shifted.

And down the two went, falling back on the ice.

However, it was Eli's back who hit the ice, managing to keep Ceri from harm.

There are many things Ceri isn’t great at, and a lot of them are things he can probably do better than her and teach her about, but is she going to tell him that? Maybe. Maybe one day. Maybe simply because it would be fun even if he tries to get his revenge on her… Maybe for the sole sake of having an excuse to spend more time alone with him…

It’s a nice thought, but there’s no time to think about things like those. There’s something nice about hugging him, about being in his arms, and Ceri enjoys the moment much more than what she’d probably admit – short as it may be.

His back hits the ice, hard. It aches, the air momentarily knocked out of his lungs. Eli was left gasping for air for a moment before he managed to breathe again.

Gods, he was never going to do this again.

"I'm okay. Shit, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have grabbed you."

He was too caught in his pain to think about how close they were... until he opened his eyes as saw Ceri's face close to his. Eli's cheeks turned bright red, blinking fast.

Ceri should probably get off of him and help him get up, but instead she finds herself caught up in looking at him; in thinking about how close he is, about how warm he is, about how much she likes being like this with him.

The feeling of the ice against his back was cold, numbing, hard. He was going to shift, to sit up. However, he noticed that Ceri was still on top of him

And that she was really close to him.

Her face, her nose, her chest... it was like every part of their bodies were touching. If Elliott wasn't embarrassed before, he definitely was now. If he blushed harder, he could melt the ice.

"M-make it up to me? I-I don't think that's necessary, is it...?"

He chuckled nervously, swallowing hard.

If she were to take her gloves off and put her hands on his cheeks in the same way she is now, Ceri is sure she would feel just how warm he is from how much he’s blushing. It makes her want to take a picture to preserve the moment forever, but she knows that would be cruel and embarrass Elliott even more.

Her voice is quiet and soft, a mere whisper as if a secret shared only between them, and yet there’s something playful about the slight smile that tugs at her lips.

Elliott doesn't know what he's expecting her to do. Maybe her descent onto his lips was expected in the end. But it's still a shock, nevertheless.

He's frozen, rigid against the ice as her lips, as soft as he could imagine, met his. As if by some sort of instinct, his eyes close. His hands come to rest on her sides, eventually allowing himself to accept her kiss.

And to kiss her back.

There's that feeling again. It was stirring in his gut, in his chest... Eli didn't know what to make of it. He was so flustered because of her body pressing firmly against his. After what felt like forever did he lean back, opening his eyes to stare at Ceri in a daze.

"I... uh... fuck, what the hell, Ceri."

Elliott wasn't mad at her. If anything, he was scolding her for making him embarrassed for the millionth time in his life. He looked off to the side as he pushed himself up from the ice, wincing a little from the achiness in his back.

"We... um... let's go back to the sub. My back hurts."
