danny has to take a quick moment to carefully process her words, but in the end his optimism wins out.

as for any other tricks, he shakes his head, but he does circle back around to her to offer his hand.

"nope. but i know how to dance on ice."

Her eyes follow him until he arrives to offer his hand to her, and although she does place hers on his, she almost retracts it immediately.

"Erm... It's getting kinda cold, don't you think?"

It's been cold all this time, but it certainly didn't seem to bother her until this very moment. Something did, however, something she made an effort to hide.

"..we should head back."

She doesn't wait to see if Danny agrees before beginning to skate toward where she left her shoes.

"mm. I think I could go for some coffee right now, though." It's probably the closest thing to a clue that Danny will get from her. the fact he is getting one to begin with must be a good sign.

is it getting kinda cold? the thought never occurs to him until she brings it up, and even then, he feels no different. but he doesn't say otherwise. in fact, he even nods, sliding his hand back into his pocket to find warmth.

"um, yeah, kinda..."

and then he's following after her back to where they came.

this time, however, danny registers the clue. pretty much clocks it the moment she says it.

so, as he's sat back down and untying his skates, the smile he wears is bright. innocent.

"there's a nice cafe right outside the woods. towards rustboro."

Katherine definitely did not want to dance; that much was clear. She seemed hesitant to give a specific clue as to why, instead preferring to maintain a poker face that came naturally to her.

"Sounds good," she imagines that he won't ask her to dance while they walk, which already lifts her spirits.

"You know," Kat's eyes flutter in realization before she sets them upon Danny, "except for your name and the fact you like horse-riding, I don't really know anything about you."

the realization sets upon him, too.

"oh! uh, i'm not too sure where to begin."

the most important parts of his life have been hidden away to remain undisclosed unless to those he deems necessary. maybe one day he'll tell kat. or maybe she'll figure it out on her own.

until then, he supposes he'll have to settle for the boring details.

"i grew up in oldale, and like every other kid i wanted to travel the region and become champion of hoenn."

the smile that appears is genuine.

"i got pretty close. i've one badge."

but it's funny enough to draw out a chuckle from her. it feels naïve, innocent, pure— everything that she's not. perhaps that's why she wants to know more about him.

what do you do for a living then?" only a moment passes before she speaks up again, stealing danny's opportunity to answer her question. "wait, no. let me guess. you're... a swimming instructor. no, a lifeguard. one of those. it's related to sports, right?"

which is a lie. he had studied marketing at university but he never got the chance to pursue a career in it. does rocket need marketing? his mind drifts for just the briefest of moments.

"so if you ever need someone to hype you up, i'm your guy."

not to mention he's already her biggest supporter.
