She never quite understands the hype that surrounds the wintry holidays - From the traditions of gifting others to the near uncomfortable levels of public affection shown by couples wandering through the streets, every bit of it seems held together by superficial means. And yet, she's still willing to keep an open mind, enough to appreciate the bitter chill of snow kissing her skin or the chorus of laughter floating over the tall snowbanks ahead.

It's almost reminiscent of home, bittersweet in all its glory as she loosely tugs at the bottom of her woollen cardigan. Every so often, a fellow ranger of hers will ask if she's freezing. To which she merely smiles and waves them off - After all, she had practically been raised in the snow. If anything, the cold is probably the only thing keeping her sane with all the babysitting of lost children and secret kissing she has to witness.

That and the unlimited flow of hot chocolate in the visitor's centre.

That was probably the only real reason she'd agreed to taking this job.

Andres hadn’t planned to be at the visitor center tonight. He usually reserved his evenings for himself and hanging out around town or just simple errands. But when one of their volunteers form the school fell ill…well…he’d been asked to sub in. The faculty member that had asked him had been pretty cute, and he’d eyed the young man once or twice since they’d started but didn’t quite see them around often enough to try to ask them out. After this though, perhaps he should. At least that was he could stop accepting volunteering gigs. [break][break]

Despite not really wanting to be there, he smiled broadly as he handed out dixie cups fill with hot chocolate and marshmallows. He’d passed cup after cup for an hour or two now, and by then its not hard to notice the pinkette hovering around the same table as him. At first, he’d been a little spooked at the thought of luka chêne being here but then realized it was a different girl entirely. She lacked that effortless cheer Luka usually carried, preferring something more uninterested and maybe a little serious. [break][break]

He’s bored, he thought as he slid his hand into hers after she picked up a cup of hot cocoa and grinned. “Don’t mind if I do, chiquilla. Thank you for taking care of me~” he said as he carefully pulled the cup away and blew on the top so he could keep it from scalding him. “When’s your break? You look like you could use a pick me up.” He added with a wink.

Andres isn’t put off by her reactions. She’s not angry or aggressive enough for him to back off just yet. If things didn’t work out here though. He could always try talking to one of the visitors for a bit. “Ah, but you’ve only just started talking to me. Surely, you have a bit more endurance than that?” he said with a laugh before nodding curtly at the visitor she attended. He didn’t walk away from her; merely stood there waiting for her to be done before continuing. [break][break]

“I did, bonita. Everyone’s busy and said you’d probably need my help the most.” He lied with a small shrug. He sipped on his own hot cocoa and made idly chatter with the guests as they walked by him. “What’s your name? I’m Andres.” He added, introducing himself with the usual cheery grin.

It seemed the girl wasn’t buying anything he was selling. Before he can even get a name, she’s just quiet and smiley. It’s almost unnerving for a brief second, he thought he was going to get kicked in the gut or something. Fortunately, he avoided that fate. Instead, he only grinned happily, quick to nod before the girl pulled her phone out. “Oh, we’re exchanging phone numbers?” he asked a little too soon before she flashed the screen at him.

She was willing to call his bluff. Fuck. Well, it wasn’t like he was too keen on listening though. “You could.” He said, not breaking a sweat just yet. “Or you could hang out with me a little longer and I could take you to get something to eat on your break?” he said, pulling out his own phone. He was quick to type something in before flashing his own screen. “There’s this really good crepe place nearby, and I got a craving, Tesoro.” He said unfazed by Zahra’s attitude.

It’s quiet for a moment and he can almost see the pinkette considering her options before she’s finally swayed. She ignored his tease about exchanging phone numbers, which at the moment, seemed par for the course. She didn’t seem interested in bothering with him, but maybe a crepe or two would change that. He put a hand on his chest as she spoke up once more but only replied with, “You think I’m pretty?” The response is half genuine, half knowing taunt. But she had let it slip and he was going to take advantage of it. [break][break]

“Ah, what pick up lines? Telling you, ‘you’re pretty’ isn’t a pick up line, it’s a statement of fast, belleza.” He countered easily still hovering around the ranger. His gaze dipped to his phone already looking up the menu for the shop. “By the way, what is your phone number so I can text you the menu?” Since crepes were the specialty, the menu of add ons and special combos was long and overwhelming. He’d been stuck at the back of the line for 15 minutes the first time he’d gone there.

Andres is quick to take the compliment, even with the barb attached at the end. “You don’t like when I talk? But how else will I tell you how cute you are?” Andres asked, words laced with faux concern. The next comment gets a snort out of Andres as he found himself handing a couple of other visitors some hot cocoa before returning to drink his own. It was already starting to cool down, and the mini marshmallows inside were long gone. He knocked it back, gulping down the slightly warm mixture before crushing the cup in his hand and throwing it away. [break][break]

“Oh, ok! It’s called Viva Crepa.” Andres said putting away his phone with ease, least he forget it on the hot cocoa table. “You check the menu, I can go ask the supervisor when your break is so we can go together~” he said pouring a couple of cups again before looking at the girl once more. “What was your name again so I can ask them?”
