Roy had expected to be in the cave for much longer then he had been before he actually found a wild pokemon he was interested in. Of course he thought there'd be some random ones out and about he could battle with Infernape to get some more experience but almost immediately the young man rounded a corner and caught the glimpse of a Mamoswine of all things turning a different corner away from him. At that moment his goal changed from just hoping he could find something to add to his team to doing whatever he had to do to get that Mamoswine.
The pig pokemon was huge and its massive foot steps left a little echo whenever it moved so it was pretty easy to keep track of. Even if it would of been harder to track Roy still would of tried his best to follow it, the Mamoswine line of pokemon were something he had actually been interested in getting for a long time. The fact that it was already fully evolved was just a little bonus.
After a minute or two of trailing it from a distance Roy glanced back at his Infernape, having decided to start battling it already. "Volco, use Mach Punch real quick." The only response to the command that the large fire monkey gave was to take off at a blinding speed, suddenly slamming its fist into the side of the Mamoswine, knocking it down to the ground.
Now of course the Mamoswine wasn't out just yet but he had the advantage for now. Type wise the two were probably equal, unless the mamoswine didn't know any ground type moves then Infernape had an edge over it. Almost as if he spoke it into existence the Mamoswine stood back up on its feet and launched a ball of mud out of its mouth, a mud bomb attack. Which was definitely something Infernape was weak too.
Due to how close they were Infernape didn't really have much of a chance to dodge and ended up smacked with the mud and on the ground. "Close combat!" The ranger blurted out as he reached for a pokeball, getting ready to toss it. Hopping back up to its feet with impressive speed the Infernape launched itself forward and began laying a barrage of blows on the Mamoswine, not stopping until the pokemon was back down on the ground.
Once that attack finished Roy reeled his arm back and send the pokeball flying, sucking the Mamoswine into the ball and hopefully capturing it.
