The ranger headquarters at Fortree City are not ones Vic is all that familiar with, and yet he has found himself stopping by quite a few times as of late. If he weren’t always so busy, he would pay Alexei Ivanov a visit while at the city, but while the thought does happen to cross his mind as his Dragapult touches down upon one of the infamous rope bridges, this time he also happens to be here because of an appointment.

One he’s slightly late for, but for that he has mostly the strange winter weather to blame.

Snow-bearing clouds in a tropical region like Hoenn? A rarity. A cool one, at that, but one hell of an annoyance when flying!

It’s with a grin that he greets those present when entering the headquarters, Vic himself being clad head to toe in his uniform and wearing the type of blue armband reserved for Elite Rangers. Soon enough a receptionist pointed him towards an awaiting recruit, and he approached them.

^{His nerves were on fire, felt like they were connected to a Cyndaquil's backside, ready to combust and explode. Field experience is an entirely different experience than just reading books and memorizing information. Of course, he knew, but being practically thrown into the wild is intimidating nontheless. Now, they're waiting for the person meant to train him for their first field day, guide them through the ropes as they say.[break]
Just when Lux felt like getting cold feet, try again another day when he's more mentally prepared, Sirius rubs against his leg, giving him a paw... thumbs up?[break]
Lux chuckles and lovingly ruffles the Meowstic's head.[break]
"Thank you." He whispers.[break]
Just like that the sliding doors from the Ranger center open and a booming voice soon follows. Lux immediately straightens his posture (his Pokemon mirrioring him) and bows briefly toward his mentor, before rising up again.[break]
"Yes! I'm Lux, Lux Defort. It's nice to meet you." Sirius hops into place like an excited Scorbunny and Lux holds back another smile. Act professional. "And.. this is my Partner, Sirius. Though he won't be joining us on the mission."}

There’s something ever so endearing about seeing someone so young on their first day at the job. The nerves, the attempts at being serious and professional, they’re all things Vic knows well. It’s how he probably would have acted if he had joined the rangers at the age of the freshly minted trainee in front of him, but then again, he also has never been a particularly nervous person to begin with…

”Lux and Sirius, huh? Nice to meet you both! I’m Victor Wexler, but most people call me Vic. You can too, no need to be so serious!... Ha! Get it? Serious.” He smiles ever so brightly, words that always seem to spill out a little too fast being soon followed by a joyous laugh at his own lame joke – one that he obviously hadn’t even intended to make on purpose.

It’s then when he extracts something from his pocket… A wrinkly piece of paper that when unfolded turns out to be a flyer about someone’s missing Skitty.

Unlike Lux, who weakly laughs along at his superior’s joke, Sirius crinkles up his little face in what could only be described as "disgust." Though, back to more important matters at hand.[break][break]
“A missing Skitty?”[break][break]
Right, a beloved Pet Pokemon throughout the Hoenn region. He’s seen his fair share of the pink felines while staying here. It worries him that one’s lost here of all places, given all the trees. The poor little thing could be stuck anywhere, all cold and afraid.[break][break]
Lux nods, wears a determined smile. “Y-Yes, we’ll find it in a flash! Um, j-just a second please..” He turns back to Sirius, levels down to his friend’s height to hold onto his small paws.[break][break]
“You can’t join me on this one, buddy. So stay here at the Ranger Station and be a big boy, alright?”[break][break]
Sirius meows back, as if to say 'I should be saying that to you!' though who could tell?[break][break]
Lux stands up back. “Right! My first mission.. I’m ready whenever you are.”[break][break]

There are times when Rangers have to deal with huge and potentially catastrophic issues like Groudon’s rampage at Mt. Chimney last year, but most of the time, their missions are about things like these; simple, ordinary, and yet that deeply affect many lives.

That Skitty’s trainer and family are obviously worried about it and the pokémon itself could be in grave danger – hopefully not, but it’s a possibility all the same.
[break][break]
So, when Lux seems to take this seriously, Vic is glad to see it, even offering the trainee a bright and reassuring smile.

”Alright! Let’s get going, then. Where do you think we should search first?”
[break][break]
The question is asked as he walks towards the door, and although he knows the answer, even something like this can serve as a good learning opportunity, no?

Someone’s beloved Pokemon has gone missing and it’s their sworn duty to reunite the pair back together. To not take this seriously, well, he should just turn in his armband right then and there.[break][break]
Alright, where to look first..[break][break]
When asked directly, Lux ponders for a short moment, before voicing aloud their exact thoughts.[break][break]
“Well.. I would guess within the city first? There’s lots of hiding places, so the Skitty wouldn’t have needed to roam very far outside.” Besides, Skitty isn’t very good at camouflage (the bright pink coat doesn’t help matters.) Still, the forests within the city were dense and thick, so it could easily hide itself and not be spotted. “If I had to guess.. Skitty got out, was spooked by something, then ran up the nearest tree? Though, the question is.. which one.” [break][break]
It’s daunting to even begin searching, given that this is the tree capital of the region. [break][break]
He’s treating this like a mystery really, but it’s good to see him taking it so seriously. Lux would be heartbroken if he lost even one of his Pokemon.[break][break]
