The air is crisp and clear as Shioda Yoshiro heads out for an evening run, the prowling form of her Arcanine beside her. His breath casts wisps of smoke into the air, steam rising from his mane as they make a steady along the road in search of anything they may find. Oba Guiying had always advised that keeping a good exercise regime was important, and if they are lucky, perhaps they will find an interesting find or two to send back to Johto for her.

And if not, at the very least the wild pokémon will provide adequate training for Torao before his next match.

Torao glances up at his trainer beside him at the sight of a DRILBUR digging beside the road, not breaking pace until Yoshiro's lifts her chin in a scarce not, continuing her run down the path. With a burst of speed, he bolts toward the DRILBUR on the path, driving it back down into the earth and pawing at the ground for a few minutes as if he may uncover it.

With a vague amusement for the diversion, Yoshiro shakes her head slowly as he matches her pace once more, and they are on their way.

It is well into the evening, sweat sticking her shirt to her shoulders as they jog down the side of the road, that Yoshiro catches the glint of red eyes in the near-darkness, a sinister gleam that catches like firelight as a Mightyena starts a slow circuit on the road before them as if deciding how and when best to strike.

A worthy challenger, Yoshiro thinks as she takes in the ripple of muscle beneath the creature's grey-black pelt, the inherent strength to its bone-breaking jaws. We will strike first, press the advantage.

It isn't the first time Torao has had it out with a Mightyena, though these encounters are so often less in the wild and more in underground circles, money exchanging hands as two contenders scrap to death or to draw in...less than sanctioned battles. But the Arcanine has not taken a defeat since she was much, much younger, and they are both more able now.

One would hope it is over quickly, but it is rarely over so clean. A burst of EXTREME SPEED from Torao, the sound of teeth scraping bone as the Mightyena lunges in. Fire and fang, claw and sand, the two creatures give as good as they get, more than a little blood in the dirt by the time the Arcanine seizes his opponent by the back of the neck and gives it a firm, hard shake before dropping it to the ground.

Unclipping a Pokeball from her belt, Yoshiro tosses it into the air, catches it once before throwing it in the direction of the Mightyena.
