These solo sojourns were becoming incredibly lonely, but they were also a routine—one formed out of habit.

While it did mean he could still keep leaving candles at that little deserted ‘memorial’ he’d put up for the lost one, wherever he was now—

He knew that the other man was as good as gone, but there was something he couldn’t let go.

He didn’t know why.

Either way, he knew he wasn’t alone out here…

Before he could even do any singular thing, a sudden burst of Shadow Sneak caused him to fall back, and with an exclamation of surprise, a Decidueye appeared from the depths (no surprise).

Due to him being caught off-guard, he’d fumbled around for a random Pokéball and thrown it skywards—and was surprised (not to mention relieved) when his Altaria burst out of it, humming in mid-air.

“Help,” was all he said—and the Decidueye attacked again, only this time throwing a feathery mass of down at the Altaria—a Feather Dance!

A sudden explosion of flames erupted from her maw, a Flamethrower incinerating the attack before it could reach her—and passing through, before catching the dual-type full in the face.

“Yikes,” he grumbled as he crawled away, before pulling himself up and then throwing a Pokéball after a second Flamethrower made sure that it stayed down.
