A relatively warm winter day, combined with a recent snowfall, made for the perfect recipe for sticky snow. The sticky snow clung to the bottom of Meabh's boots and made a distinctive squelching sound every time she put her feet down. However, Meabh didn't mind because it was such a nice day out. At least, it was until a sudden shadow blocked out the sunlight from above.
Meabh wasn't too alarmed and automatically looked up out of curiosity, though she suspected the culprit was just Fergus keeping watch from above like he normally did. Immediately her vision was obscured as a pile of snow spattered across her face, her hair, and she even got a clump of it in her mouth. After spitting out the snow, she clawed a couple handfuls of it away from her eyes and off of her hair.
"Fergus!!!!" Meabh yelled up at the Fearow in mock outrage before she held onto her sides and dissolved into a fit of giggles. The giggles didn't last long though. She wasn't going to let him get away with his mischief without him receiving some of his own. Since she was practically already stooped over, Meabh scooped up a handful of snow and crumpled it into a roughly spherical shape. She lobbed the snowball at Fergus, but he had seen what she was doing and flew up and out of the snowball's path. The snowball continued on its trajectory and spattered across Devlin's back.
"Sorry Devlin, that was meant for that mischief maker up there," Meabh explained as she pointed one thumb towards the sky. She felt bad when Devlin just blinked at her while the snow slid down his shell. He hadn't been inclined to move or do much of anything since evolving, not even eating. Feeling guilty, Meabh walked over and began to brush the snow off of his shell.
Devlin could barely even feel the snow on his shell. He was more aware of the warm sunlight, which he was quite enjoying. He had a good spot where he stood, and since his trainer appeared to have stopped traveling, he had absolutely no reason to leave it. A smattering of snow wasn't going to be enough motivation to budge him. His trainer was far more concerned about the snow than he was, though he had no complaints when she brushed it away. The only problem with her doing that was that she was now blocking some of his sunlight. He waiting patiently, knowing that Meabh didn't like to stay in one spot for too long.
Oisin had been napping on the top of Meabh's backpack, but he slid out from underneath the handle after having gotten spattered with some of the snow that Fergus had dropped. Meabh obviously hadn't noticed he'd woken up, and she had left him hovering mid-air when she went over to brush the snow off the stalwart Shelgon. He swam through the air as easily as if it was water, and it didn't take long before he caught up with her.
Oisin was just about to make a noise to get Meabh's attention, when a shadow passed over them all again and he found himself trying to dodge another load of snow dropped by Fergus. He dodged a couple pieces, but unluckily got caught by a chunk. He dropped out of the air and soon found himself on his side upon Devlin's back in a small pile of snow, with the victorious call of the Fearow echoing from somewhere above. The dratted Fearow had gotten all three of them at once!
