That doesn't matter. The door slammed loudly, echoing throughout the house completely dismissing the manner. "Lars! Where are you!?" Ann calls out with a tone of panic in her voice. "If you didn't come out, I will burn this house. Come here right now!" Ann shouts getting louder and louder as she slams each nearest door one by one looking for one man. She doesn't know where to go and she hates that he is the last person that she can go to but she needs him right now for something. "Lars!"

First it was the incident that had transpired deep underground, and now there was this.

What was up with that weird ‘distortion’ that had suddenly manifested in Petalburg Forest, anyway?

He didn’t have answers—and reports from some of the other Rangers that had found themselves in the area (with one very colorfully-worded report coming from Josh Dragomir about how the man’s Arcanine had changed physical forms) were still coming in, despite most of them being jointed, panicked garbage.

He believed them, because well, his own Decidueye had also transformed within that strange disruption!

Anyway…

“What’s gotten you all panicky,” he deadpanned. Snark, coming from the Composed? In this day and age?

"That ain't important!" Ann snaps back, dismissing the threat that is thrown by Lars at her. Her glare bores right to the man's eye without any sign of faltering as her hand takes out her Pokeball - Something that she rarely uses but this time, she needs it because she doesn't know any better. From the Pokeball, a new variant of Zorua appears right between them - the behavior still resembles Zee but the vibe and looks of it are completely different. "You are big man, Mr.know-it-all, tell me what the hell happened to my friend?!" The nickname that she spat at him has a hint of sarcasm to it but it doesn't decrease the demanding tone she has on wanting to know what is happening.

With this, his other hand produced a Dusk Ball that popped out a Decidueye—at the same time, not the same as what normal Decidueye from the Alola region would look like.

“Were you around or near Petalburg when that rift appeared recently?”

Ann is completely aware of how he is on the verge of using his avatar abilities but she won't step back. If he does dare use it, that would only prove that adults prefer to force people who are younger than them with force. Ann holds herself back from smiling after she notices how he withdraw the ability, thinking that she won. "Of course, duh! Where else can I find this kind of thing, five-star hotel?" Ann completely ignores the Decidueye that he takes out. "What I want to know is what the f**k is that portal or whatever and why those portals rob me off from my only friend!?" Ann held back from straight shouting but anyone who hears her could definitely hear the desperation. Zee for her is not just any pokemon, she is her only friend that has been with her from the thick and thin - But now, she doesn't know if this is still the same as Zee as she knows or not. "You are the head ranger, are you not!? Scooby doo this shit" Ann's tighten her fist so hard to the point that her nail starts to dig to her palm and make it bleed. She wants to know if there is a way to bring Zee back.

While uncommon, Lars did lose his cool from time to time.

“You expect me to have an immediate answer to this?!” he remarked as he tilted his head in the not-so-Decidueye’s direction.

“I’m not a fucking genie!”

Okay, he just had to say that.

“Look, all I know is that there are others who had their Pokémon change by being anywhere near or inside that strange reality-warp. Distortion. Whatever you call it. I don’t have all the answers yet, because I’m also searching for them too!”

Ann goes silent and stares at Lars as if she was staring at a bug. The tiniest bit of positive impression toward the guy from the past goes completely vanish. "You-" Ann trails off for a moment but changes her mind. "... Never mind, forget all of it" Ann calls Zee back to the Pokeball and walks to supposedly her room that she never use, she wants time alone for herself with privacy. "I am disappointed," Ann said before opening her door and slamming it close. Once she is in the room, she quickly falls to the ground and hugs her knee with her back facing the door. A sniffling voice can be heard to the outside but she doesn't care. She wants her Zee back, she wants to know what happened to Zee.

(Of course, what else was he expecting but a typical teenager’s reaction to all this?!)

‘That’s messed up.’

‘I know, right? I also found it strange.’

‘What?’

‘That while I was inside that strange rift thing, I couldn’t hear your voice. At all.’

‘What made you say?’

‘I know most of my waking hours I can hear you and reach you, but inside there it felt—’

‘Weird?’

‘In a manner of speaking.’

Great, he had even less answers to what had transpired. Little did he know that more and more of these distortions, or ‘rifts’ as he preferred to call them, would be popping up here and there around the region, and would be wreaking this much havoc.

Ugh, how did Léanne deal with Claude acting like a brat? They were around this age when he’d left for Alto Mare, so… well…

Growling for a few moments, he took a deep breath and then approached the door.

“Look. This shit only started very recently. So of course we don’t know everything yet. Just—please don’t act like a brat, you know that’s not going to work in the long run, this is still all new and everyone’s panicking to all hell, nobody has definite answers yet,” he reasoned.

The not-so-Decidueye looked over at him, still watching his every move but not lashing out at him.

“And I don’t trust anyone higher up than I am to give out exact answers… so I’ll be doing my own searching into this shit.”
