The mercenary operating under the alias The Fixer was born Nathaniel Wintermoore, of Mahogony Town, Johto. Nathaniel Wintermoore was born poor, and stayed that was for the full span of his childhood, and much of his adolescence. He learned from an early age that life was neither fair nor unfair; The universe was not inherently just or cruel - It simply was. It is people that influence it one way or the other, and most people were selfish, greedy, and callous to the needs of others. He pondered such matters often, when the hunger cramps clawed at his stomach, and the broken melody of futile sobbing was played out for the hundredth time to the percussion of fist on flesh.[break][break]
He was twelve when he decided to fix things at home. He was twelve when he waited for the alcohol to lull his father into a drunken sleep, and he learned that he could use a strong pair of shoestrines to garrotte someone. That same night he learned that gratitude was not always forthcoming when you thought it should be, that love was a strange and twisting sickness of the mind, and that it was damned hard to move a body when you were still small and weedy. It was an instructive day.[break][break]
He left through the woods, and found his scyther the same night. No money to buy a pokeball, and no pokemon to beat it into submission, so he did things the old fashioned way, the patient way, the right way, and danced that timeless dance of humanity befriending creatures that could kill them as easily as not.[break][break]
They wandered, and got into unsanctioned pokemon fights, and they found that they were good at it. They fell into a natural rhythm of working with one another that netted them enough winnings to get them food, clothes, and shelter. It was through this that he fell in with the violent types that gravitated to such events; Rocket grunts, ex-military, hitmen, and mercenaries. They took a shine to him, given his youth, and viewing him as something of a mascot, so they gave him enough pointers and practice that he grew into a pretty competent dealer of violence in his own right. From there, contacts, contracts, and work that was darker and more brutal than he had expected to fall into, but he was good at it, and he didn't much mind it, and so he stuck at it. [break][break]
One piece of advice he'd latched on to early on was that the best assassins, mercenaries, and other such people that dabbled in work like that tended to have an alias. An alias was safer, for one, and it gave you an air of mystery, made you both more and less than human. He liked to fix things, and more often than not, his jobs involved fixing problems in one way or another, so he became known as The Fixer. The Fixer never let anyone see his face, and between his ever-present helmet and the voice modulation it provided, he cultivated quite the enigmatic air, which proved popular. It also let him live a quiet, civilian life as the unremarkable Nate Wintermoore, because a person can't be working all the time. [break][break]
The Fixer has kept a steady stream of contracts and odd jobs going over the years, notably of which was when he was hired on as a freelance agent during the Rocket takeover of Kanto, and has since decided to turn his attention to Hoenn; Rocket, new or old, meant opportunity. Most of all, Rocket would mean problems, and problems needed fixing.[break][break]
