Once again the restrictions on where he could and couldn't go were tightened, as the skies began to tear open and blanket the wildlands of Hoenn in spatial distortions. He was lucky to make it this far to the outskirts of Rustboro these days. Not that he wasn't thankful, but...

But there was almost nothing worth getting excited about. Aedan kicks a small stone, sending it tumbling into the distance, though it did little to curb the welling frustrations. If only he were a little bit older... He'd be his own man.

And nobody could tell him what to do, ever again...

While on his little jaunt, he would happen across a particularly sluggish Slowpoke, which he gave a hearty pat for good luck before continuing on his way.

Despite the burst of glee at seeing one of his favorite, dopey pokemon, he's still caught in a slump. Being boxed up in his house, it feels wrong somehow... it's not the childhood his father had gotten, or his grandfather before him; there was so much to experience out there.

And they were denying him his chance to go and see it.

Aedan has to look up what the pokemon even is before continuing forward. It's a psychic pokemon, and those tend to freak his parents out (something about being vastly intelligent isn't desirable to them, in what they see as a form of 'pet' or otherwise subservient creature,) so he knows better than to try bringing it home.

It would only be inviting trouble.

But the pokedex entry is oddly striking, like a parallel of his own indecisions. The creature floats about him, bobbing and weaving as both minds decide to follow their own path. Left. Then right. They cannot decide on what the right path is, much like him; torn between his desires and his familial duties.

Finally, a moment of clarity. The both pause and gently lower into Aedan's hands, allowing him to give them a squish, hugging it tightly. This is what being a pokemon trainer was about, to him... Enjoying friendship with pokemon. But he has to let this one go...

...And he is starting to make up his mind.
