Not long after reaching the treeline, the sound of branches cracking catches Yoshiro's attention, a sound which grows steadily louder upon their approach. With an abrupt hand-signal to Torao, she crouches down behind a bush, catching a glimpse of the small group of Stufful practicing their claw-strikes on a fallen tree nearby.

Unclasping a pokeball from her belt, she singles out the sole outlier of the group, and with a smooth, practiced throw sends the capture device hurtling toward the pokemon's feet where it erupts into a flash of light. A shiny pokemon is a rare boon to find, a stroke of good luck, and perhaps, a portent of better things yet to come.

Quick to secure the pokeball in her things once the Stufful has been captured, Yoshiro makes a mental note to have it assessed once she is back in Slateport proper. While more of her pokemon are pedigreed than not, having the creature evaluated and graded could prove beneficial in the future, nevermind that she had heard enough stories of rampaging Bewear to know it would be a valuable asset regardless of show quality.

Hours later, their leisurely walk leads them down onto the beach, where a number of Luvdisc appear to have been trapped in pools by the outgoing tide. Casually unclipping another pokeball, she singles out a specific one for its size and health, sending the ball spinning through the air toward it.

Tossing a pokeball up into the air and catching it, content off the back of another successful win, Yoshiro continues on her way, her Arcanine prowling at her side. Together they watch the sun dip lower and lower on the horizon, simmering in a red-gold line where the trees meet the newly dusk-tinged hues of the early evening sky, watching the flying pokemon come in to roost in the distant branches, the herds drift in from the flatlands to bed down in the sweet meadow grass, and remain still as a handful of bumbling Happiny run to and fro across the path. Shaking her head slowly, a faint smile crossing her features, Yoshiro leads on - content to leave them be for the time being.

As the sun-drenched evening tilts into a velvet night, Yoshiro and her Arcanine head deeper into the ferns and brambles, breaking through the other side and into the meadows beyond. As the thrum of night-time insects picks up, filling the air with a discordant melody, Torao emits a low huff, alerting on something amidst sweetgrass and bloom.

Cautious not to startle the Eevee nesting there, Yoshiro moves quietly closer, her last pokeball tossed toward the little creature, whose wide, dark eyes open only a second before it flashes a whisker's-length away.
