despite having arranged devon corp hq as their place of meeting, ana sends a last minute text to change locations to something a bit more comfortable.

in a similar bistro to the one she had taken GABRIEL BLACK, ana sits by a table that overlooks the busy streets of rustboro. she sips at her tea, waiting for her guest to arrive.

Prepped in her typical office attire-- white button-down, black dress pants, hair pulled back into a braid --- the excited woman hurriedly entered the tranquil cafe.

She'd been patiently waiting for this meeting ALL WEEK, and well, one more second of anticipation would've been enough to set her to explode! But, of course, none of this could show. With her inner eagerness carefully lidded, she approached the STUNNING woman situated near the edge of the cafe.

"Hello, Penelope Livy with HBS. It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Ms. Stone."

a voice pulls her away from her tea. she lifts her gaze, shifting it to the equally stunning woman who approaches.

easily, she smiles, standing to greet penelope.

"the pleasure is all mine, penelope. and please! ana is fine."

she gestures to their seats.

"would you like anything to eat? drink?"

she's already gesturing for a waiter.

It took every ounce of willpower to keep her blood from rushing up to her cheeks as the woman elegantly responded to her greeting. Was this how peasants felt when meeting their empress?

"A Cappuccino, please," She responded, both to Ana and the now hovering waiter. Then, with greetings left finished, Penelope settled down into the open chair.

"Lovely place you selected. Do you come here often?"

What a response.

"Mhm." She hummed, "Born and raised over in Petalburg City."

The ordered Cappuccino was swiftly delivered a second later. Hot to touch, the steamed drink had some cute latte art of a winking shiba inu on it. While she allowed it to cooled, she continued, "I spent some time studying in Kalos, though. I was even planning on staying longer, but something about Hoenn drew me back in."

Head tilted, she turned the question back onto her, "What about you? What convinced you to come back?"

"yes, hoenn certainly has an allure to it — one i haven't been able to find anywhere else."

that isn't the main reason why ana returned, however.

"but i came back to save whatever's left of my family's legacy here. it's suffered since the war, as you can imagine."

a sad fact but it's one she wishes to change.

after a sip of her coffee, she asks:

"were you in hoenn then?"

Ah, yes.

The Stone's reputation certainly took a dive as the fragile state of the public's opinion shifted. She could only imagine how that'd feel like, or even how she'd react if the roles were swapped.

But that was the price of fame, some critics would say.

"Unfortunately," She nodded, lips thoughtlessly plucked up into a melancholic smile. The fragmented memories from those days were horrific. Worst was the exuberant ambiance of HBS' offices during that time -- the sheer excitement some of her colleagues shared... it was disgusting, to say the least. "I'm just glad those days are behind Hoenn now."

Similar to Ana, She sipped at her Cappchino before switching the conversation back to her. "Anyways, onto a lighter topic-- the interview!" She smiled, "Before we start, do I have permission to record our conversation? It'd just be for review purposes."

With Ana's permission, the reporter fished out a tape recorder from her purse and gingerly placed it near the center of the table.

She clicked the red button before leaning back into her seat, allowing its wheels to turn for several seconds to ensure it was functioning properly.

Then, with one last solid breath, the interview could begin.

"It's March 21st, 2022 and I'm here with Devon Corp's new CEO, Ana Stone." Her introduction was firm, like a routine that had been embedded into her everyday life. Lit, welcoming eyes returning to ANA STONE , Penelope offered her another smile before continuing. "So, Ana, what are your plans for the future of Devon Corp? Have anything in particular in mind?"

Similar to the CEO, Penelope had escaped her own skin and slipped into the new one. This one fitted that of a charismatic, polite reporter -- a person far removed from her truest self.

"Well, HBS will definitely be rooting for you, Miss Stone."

Moving on.

"How about RotomTV? How will these plans affect their upcoming projects?"

With a question like that, Penelope had no choice but to tug her gaze back to Ana.

Hard and unrelenting, she locked eyes with the woman, then smiled.

"Of course! I'm all for the betterment of Hoenn, and I'm hopeful that Devon Corp's success would only add to that."

A vague stance, no doubt. She questioned if ANA STONE would push further or leave it at that.
