he'd been sitting on his lapras for a while now with a fishing rod on the water. he's missed his chance to get a luvdisc on the safari zone so he thought he'd try his luck on this spot that reportedly has a bunch of them.

after a while, priam starts to think he's been scammed.

still, fishing was a patient man's game. in his dedication to be patient, he doesn't question it and chalks it up to bad luck. surely, something will bite the line of his fishing rod eventually.

unfortunately, he wasn't following the news about luvdisc population suddenly going missing. no other pokemon were biting either, further suggesting that something has happened that incurred this phenomenon.

despite clinging on his optimism, part of him hopes that someone will come along and tell him whether he's getting fucked over by something or if he's just unlucky.

A ranger’s work is never done, even when Lux finds himself off duty he looks into the region’s local problems. A lack of Luvdisc is concerning, given how abundant they are and travel in packs. Most of the water types inhabiting the area weren’t around either, a fickle situation indeed, one that troubles him.[break][break]
Lux sighs as he looks out to the body of clear water. It’s clean, suggesting that it wasn’t pollution driving them all away. But why then? He came with his classic diving gear (which, thankfully, covers his unsightly lightning scars) and just as he goes to adjust his underwater breathing device, Lux notices a lone fisherman. Did he not know the news? Or was he just annoyingly persistent?
Lux can’t leave it alone either way.[break][break]
“Hey,” Lux calls out, swimming a reasonable distance while on Starmie's back. “Sorry to burst your bubble, but the fish aren’t going to bite here. They’re missing and I’m here to try and figure out why that is.”[break][break]

"what?! this is the only time i have to go all the way out here and fish!"

there's disappointment in the whine. getting in the safari zone again just costs extra and priam has already spent his money on these nice shoes he found on the internet.

"ooh, you remember how there was a distortion around here before?" priam asked, giving up on fishing entirely as he wedges his fishing rod on his lapras' shell and adjusting his seat to face the ranger.

he'd been there, but he's not going to divulge that in case he's going to get in trouble. regardless, it's not like he needed his experience to let his imagination run wild.

"okay, hear me out! what if, let's say, there was a big hole in the sky that scooped them up away from here and to another dimension! i heard the stormy skies are like that on distortions. aliens are taking our fish? not surprising, right? ah, if this theory gets to be true, you should credit the one and only conrad for figuring that out!"

Lux felt a semblance of pity for the guy and his ruined fishing trip. He’s an avid schedule-abiding person himself. However, much bigger matters were at hand. A whole population of Luvdisc is possibly being threatened here, he had no time for idle chatter.[break][break]
Though, it seems that’s exactly what he’s being suckered into. Giving this man the benefit of the doubt he listens, stoic face and all, before concluding that this was a huge waste of time. Still, he has to show off.[break][break]
“Conrad, was it?” Lux starts, swimming a little closer as his Starmie glides them gently across the water. “Specifically speaking, while Pokemon from other spaces and time periods can appear in Space Time Distortions, there’s no concrete evidence that they take people or even Pokemon along with them. Not to mention there’s no way that scenario would’ve gone unnoticed.”[break][break]
His deep lavender eyes focus on the water below. It’s too quiet. It bothers him. [break][break]
“You’re right about one thing, though. There was most likely a big commotion with the most recent one. The Luvdisc went to flee in the underwater cavern system. I have reason to believe this disturbance of their space and their overall panic could’ve caused a cave in.” [break][break]
Lux sighs, dips his hand in the deep blue water. Not a single vibration. If there were, it’s incredibly faint. [break][break]
“More than likely, they’re all trapped and unable to return to the surface.”[break][break]

"oh, wait, really?! damn, the internet forums lied to me again!"

he scratches his head in frustration as he appears to run out of ideas until the ranger speaks again.

"oh. hah! of course the part that i came up with myself is right!" he feels proud for having his guesswork have a semblance to the truth. "but what you're saying is that we need to resort to dynamite fishing now for the extra firepower to get them to the surface, right, uh... buddy?"

fireworks were kind of a hobby of his, and explosives just follow suit. surely, he brought some kind of pokemon that can cause them, but before he can test it out, priam scratches a metaphorical itch first.

priam is a conversationalist. he prefers it if there's some sort of connection with the other party, and while it's not entirely required, it's still preferred. he's not going to pry, but he's definitely most likely going to try and ask for it.

"what should i be calling you, mister buddy ol' pal? gotta have a nice name there, right?"
