it's still dark, she still cannot sleep. the catch, the aipom, her aipom is clutched in a fresh pokeball. persephone continues towards the cave its dark mouth beckons her with a siren song.

the chandelure bobs alongside her, washing everything in its purple and violet hues. some might fear it, the cold-but-warm chill indicating the presence of the ghosts, but to persephone these unnatural flames signify security. this pokemon is her starter, after all, and even the darkest caves are a little brighter both literally and metaphorically with her chandelure at her shoulder.

there's movement somewhere in the cave's depths. a boulder seems to raise itself and move itself off its own accord. persephone narrows her eyes against the dark, trying to make out the shape. it's hairy. it's fat and large. it has a distinctive piggy pink nose.

she already has a swinub, so she leaves this one in peace and moves on.

distracted by the piloswine, persephone doesn't notice the aron until it knocks her off balance. and it hurts too. apparently the pokemon hadn't expected to see her either. they stare at each other, eye-to-eye, slowly draw back mortified.

for whatever reason, the aron doesn't leave, maybe it's too scared to. evidently bored of the waiting, the chandelure dips down and starts waving its little arms around to entertain the wild pokemon. in turn, the aron jumps up and down, playing. persephone watches for a some long minutes, eventually rolling across a pokeball to capture it.
