Gabrielle runs through the halls of Evergrande’s hospital, despair written all over her face.Narrowly avoiding hospital staff and other visitors, many people remind her not to run but Gabrielle doesn’t hear them. The only thing that was on her mind was her father, after discovering what had happened to him. At first Gabby figured that the election was keeping him busy. It was also normal for him not to reach out, which is why she never thought anything of it.

How stupid could she be.

She reaches the nurses desk, panting and sweaty. Needing to catch her breath before speaking, “I’m.. Gabrielle Black. Councilman Black’s Daughter.” Her voice is frantic and she takes another breath to try and calm herself.

“Please… let me see him.” The nurses chatter for what seems like an eternity, before finally one of them lead her to his room.

The nurse knocks on the door before entering, “Councilman Black, your family is here.”

He would’ve preferred to stay inside his room—hell, staying inside the house would’ve been the best course of action for he who had ‘the cursed name’, the butt of jokes—

However…

Have one sister come at you and ask extremely nicely to come along with, to the hospital—wait. The hospital?

The last thing he remembered saying was ‘Just let me bring my laptop along…’

And so smash-cut to Evergrande, where they all were, and him trying to catch Gabrielle, trying to tell her to slow down but hell she was a girl on a mission!

“Sis, what the f—hell!” he caught himself in time.

“You went so fast—you left everyone else behind, good grief,” he breathed out a few moments later, bent over double to stabilize himself. Yikes. He… really should get out of the house more often…

“Where is everyone else, anyway? What happened to… the ol’ man, d’you know?”

Jessie wasn't really sure how or why she had brought Niko with her. For comfort, perhaps? Protection?

Of course, when she had received the phone call that her father was in the hospital, she wasn't itching to go. And, she made it clear to her lover that he didn't need to come with her, since many of his terms about meeting particular people were about staying on his territory.

Something about him coming made her heart flutter as Jessie reached down for his hand.

"You can stay back, if you want. It's up to you," she said, looking at him sweetly.

"I won't pressure you. And you can watch the baby."

Said baby was currently strapped on Jessie's chest in a carrier, sleeping soundly. She found the room, taking a breath, before entering. And what she saw could have made her laugh.

"Wow. You look like shit, ."

“councilman Black, your family is here."

gabriel sat with his attention transfixed on the windows and its contents beyond. turning at the voice, gabriel gives the familiar woman more of the same of his stoicism. then, simply, he nods.

filtering in en-masse, he takes each of children in. , @jessica , , and @adrial . how wildly different they'd all turned out to be. two of them had joined rocket, though they thought he didn't realize, while the other two were still so young.

well, there would be plenty of time to hate him yet.

his heavy gaze flicks to the stranger — — and eyes narrow ever so slightly. he didn't even need to note the baby, to know whose idea this was. she'd always had a flare of the dramatics.

on either side of his bed his pyroars, argent and aurum, stood from their resting position and to stand near the end of the bed. the flames of aurum's mane flicker harmlessly into the air, but it seems to shine a bit brighter. gabriel himself sits straight, back held by the metal frame of the bed behind him, no weakness visible despite the clear and missing arm.

"why are you all here?"

his voice is strained from hours of unrestrained screams.

Now that the door was open, well—

The sight that greeted him was one that was, well, beyond anything he was expecting.

Seeing that nobody else was talking, he decided to go first.

“What d’you think?” were the first words out of his mouth, before gesturing to the obviously-missing arm. “Is it wrong for some of us to worry about what you’ve been doing?”

He then crossed his arms over his chest. He was pretty sure that Gabrielle was going to remark otherwise, but there you have it.
