Violet Fairbanks – or at least the woman calling herself that – was a simple one in some regards. She liked fancy stuff, she liked easy jobs unless there was a way to show off and she liked to tease people. And if someone had given her a good line as in being equipped with nothing but glasses and honey, she would have an absolute field day with that.

Alas, though, the woman she met was clothed, much as herself, so she did not immediately go into that mode. The other Rocket would have a small reprieve for that and instead be given a brief smile. “You want to slather it onto the tree indeed. Preferably somewhat higher up so that most Pokemon that might be attracted will need a moment to get there. That way we can hide nearby to not immediately scare off our potential attractees. I mean, you and I certainly are attractive, but I doubt most Pokemon think that way. It would be weird, anyway. Also, good day to you. I am Violet.” Once again, ranger training did come in handy, ironically, for this rocket.

[attr="class","giada i"]she laughs at the thought her partner poses. them, attracting pokemon... it's amusing to picture, really, a flock of combee or butterfree swarming for them.

"touché," she grins, offering a wink half-shielded behind sunglasses. and after juggling the jar of honey over to her other arm, she extends a hand to violet. "giada, it's a pleasure!"

introductions down leaves... slathering honey on tree bark.

her head tilts at the tree once more, as if weighing imaginary options. should she use her fingers? should she have brought some tools? oh, did her partner bring anything? she turns, then, with every intention of asking.

"so, how exactly does one go about slathering this on a tree?" she holds up the jar in question with a laugh. "should i use my hand or is there a better way?"

“Giada. That is quite an melodious name in and of itself, is it not?” Naturally, she liked talking about names. As one of the few people who had actually chosen her own, she loved the topic. It always made her feel somewhat special to know that most others had to get lucky, while she had made her own luck in that matter. “The pleasure is all mine though, of course,” she then added, before turning towards the tree in question.

Then, she looked around a bit. It was a relatively dry day, which was decently useful for her idea. Dry leaves covered the ground in parts, for in areas like this, even when spring turned to summer, a few would fall anyway. Probably meant that there were certain Pokemon in the area. Which was well enough for she only need to walk a few paces, bend over and pick up a decently sized branch. “Good enough surface, long enough to reach a bit higher up, hmm…” She turned, before handing it to the other. “I doubt that you want to get your hands all sticky. At least thataway. Use that. Your reach is higher than mine.”

[attr="class","giada i"]huh... is it a melodious name? she had never quite thought about it before. now that it's in the forefront of her mind, however, she echoes it back over and over until it becomes something more. something grandiose, something worthy of hymns, something better than herself.

she flashes a grin at violet and the edges widen further when the light haired woman procures a branch for them. and as if she wasn't certain before, she knows now: bringing violet along was a fabulous idea.

"good thinking!" it's genuine, even. she wouldn't have thought of a branch. the piece of wood is passed over and she happily accepts with a chuckle. "no, i definitely don't want to get my hands sticky like that."

the jar of honey is uncapped, then, and she's quick to stick the end of the branch into the jar. the honey glistens when it's pulled out, sticky and gross on the end of the stick.

"how far up should we place it?" better yet, is there a particular placement that's more effective?

“Well, I do have some outdoors experience, despite the looks.” She flipped some light hair in order to put some emphasis on these words, though she was evidently just having fun here, not having taken that comment badly in any way. In fact, she had taken the compliment for what it was, of course. “The rare Pokemon live in the hard to get places, after all, so one has to be willing to get out a lot regardless. Plus, exercise.” After all, she didn’t get all the sweets she liked to eat off her ribs just by sitting around or such.

Though sadly, no amount of exercise would help her catch up to this woman in other regards. But, alas, she decided to not focus on that at all. Instead, back to the mission at hand. “Also, good question, hmm,” she started, furrowing her brows briefly, thinking. “We want it to be high enough so that the Pokemon has to struggle at least a little, but not so high that it seems all-out impossible. Do you have any idea what kind of Pokemon we might attract here with this?”

[attr="class","giada i"]the mention of rare pokemon makes her pause. it piques curiosity and begs to have claws sunk into. she doesn't hesitate to ask. in fact, her words are almost a little rushed, clamoring to get out of her throat as quickly as possible. "rare pokemon? what kinds have you found?"

they do, after all, earn a hefty price on the black market.

the honey stares at them as it sits on the branch's end. and she stares back, eyes flittering between the honey and the tree. a soft hum of understanding follows. high up but not too high up? she could manage that...

"like... this?" she murmurs as she steps up and smacks some honey onto the highest middle portion of the tree. it's slightly covered by leaves but within reach. to her, it looks like it'll do. she steps back, however, to allow her partner a look.

"i'm guessing bugs, mostly?" truthfully, she's not sure what else would come here for honey.

“Ohhh?” It was drawn out because she, likewise, was going to sink her claws in this piqued interest. It was both a good hook for conversation and an opportunity to show off, after all. “Let’s just say that I have things rarer than my shiny Rattata, for the time being~.” If the other wanted to know more, Violet would gladly share after this mission. Maybe over some nice foot, if she was invited. That was how she rolled, after all.

For the time being, she was instead treated to the sight of someone clearly not accustomed to doing such things trying to plaster some honey on the tree. Granted, she was doing a decent job of it, but it also wasn’t the most difficult task in the world. So, no bonus points awarded for that. “Looks decent enough,” she stated, after taking a closer look. Granted, she did not actually know what it should look like in the first place. But this at least seemed to fit their haphazard parameters, if nothing else.
“Bugs and bears and all the sweet tooths of the Pokemon world,” she then added, taking a step back and beckoning the other to do the same. “But let’s hope it’s not bugs. Those don’t really care about height, most of the time. Wouldn’t want to attract any of the stingy ones, either.”

"mind telling me more later?" she'll treat for dinner, after all. her partner has more than earned a feast after being so helpful. besides, food and drink make extracting information a little easier in her experience.

giada's triumphant in the art of slathering honey. at least, for now. it's the bare minimum but she's proud of it all the same. she observes her partner and the honey with an air of victory that, really, shouldn't exist.

she's quick to step back when violet beckons, settling beside her with a soft sigh. bugs would be terrible to have show up... even as someone who likes to say she loves the poisonous ones for her team, they still unnerve her all the same.

"maybe we'll be lucky and snag a bear," she offers. although... "but i did hear combee honey has gone up in value recently." the market is growing, it seems.

That response just made her smirk all the same. “Sure thing, dear~” Vio replied, even though she assumed that this was going to be at least a bit of a ruse to garner information. But that was all the same to her. The secret to living the high life was not to never get worked in return, it was to enjoy it more than the other party. And since she already belonged to the worst gang there was, it was ironically safe to share information anyway. Not like a lot of people would steal from Rocket, after all.

For now though, they had to wait a little bit longer. “If you have what it takes to tackle a bear, sure. I hear that these days, the Ursarings are growing even bigger. Space-time thingies and what not.” No one had yet told her about that third evolution, after all. But, fortunately, they were not given any such things to work with. Instead, when a Pokemon did eventually appear, it was….a Metapod. Crawling towards the honey really, really slowly. “I guess you are decidedly not my lucky charm. Or maybe I’m not yours? Undecided, so far. But that is no bear, certainly.”

her nose scrunches. can she take on a bear? no... definitely not.

"i could try my best?" a laugh follows, however, as she's simply talking out of her ass about that. "i doubt little ol' me could handle a bear, though. could you?" she's curious about the concept but something tells her very few people could take on a massive, angry ursaring and live to tell the tale. huh... perhaps she should look into finding those next.

a pout is quick to form at the sight of a very slow metapod crawling toward the tree. damn it.

"is it at least golden?" the shiny ones do well on the market, sometimes. perhaps they'll be lucky in that regard...

Oh, if only the other knew just what kind of things Violet had already done with girls their age at and after dinner. Well, maybe she did. Who knew? Violet didn’t want to make no assumptions in that regard. She’d find out soon enough, anyhow. Maybe.

For now though, they had the disappointment of a Metapot. “Looks plenty green to me, sadly,” she replied, deciding to get up and take a closer look. Not that it could run from her, after all. What could it even do? Harden at her?

Come to think of it, that truly might have been its most offensive move. “But look at the bright side, at least we don’t have to figure out how to handle a bear. I probably could, though. After all, I did stare Kyogre in the eye that one time~.” For about a few seconds. She’d still gotten closer to that one than most people. Doubly so if its avatar counted.

oh well! you live and you learn, she supposes.

a laugh escapes. it's true... they won't have to overcome a bear now. somehow, she's thankful for that fact. she pauses, however, and lingers on the information laid toward the end of her partner's statement. kyogre? the legendary titan? now that's impressive.

without hesitation, she slides up to her partner and loops their arms together. a bright grin is flashed and gently, she tugs at her partner.

"now you have to tell me that over dinner!" besides, with a quick look to confirm, the metapod isn't going anywhere important. maybe with some time, the honey will net a bigger prize. for now, however, it seems they're done for today.

Well, that move certainly was super effective, now wasn’t it? Not just had she piqued the other’s interest with that, not just had she gotten her to forget all about the disappointing Pod, but she had also goaded the other into initiating physical contact.

Oh, well, she would take that win and let the other tug her away. That kind of enthusiasm was endearing, after all. “That does sound a lot nicer than peddling ‘Pods,” she chuckled away, letting the other lead her away. This was a successful application of the honey, after all, which was what they had come here for. “And don’t worry, I will tell you all sorts of things.” As long as the dinner did not disappoint, that was. After all, she was a woman of taste. This was not going to be settled by a visit to McPsyduck’s.
