She had been exploring around the outskirts of slateport city, she hadn't really visited this hill before as there wasn't anything ever really happening here. But given recent events in her life she needed a get away from it all. [break][break]

However, because there would be no story without a driving force and conflict. Melody was unknowingly just in the right place at the wrong time. There was an all too familiar amber glow that was quickly spreading across the forest near the hill. "A fire?! Here?!" she shouted out as she quickly sent out her Lapras. "Lapras! Sparkling aria please!" she ordered as lapras began to sing and a barrage of watery notes began to beat away the fire. [break][break]

"Hello?! is anyone trapped in the fire?!" she called out, hoping no one would answer within the forest.

While he normally was in the city, his parents thought it would be good for him to go to the country for the day. Nathan was bored out of his mind as a result, there was never anything to do here. 

"Why's it smell like something's burning?" Nathan would ask himself, looking for the source. He spotted smoke in the direction of the forest. Quickly, he ran towards the rising smoke. His parents might get mad, but he was 17 so he naturally decided that he'd save that problem for later. 

Upon reaching the fire, he spotted a woman with unnaturally pink hair. A Lapras was beside her, so he assumed it was hers. Seeing the Pokémon reminded Nathan that he should probably send one out. He reached into his pocket, grabbing the Pokéball that held his Mudkip. "Water Gun." He directed his Pokémon, causing the water creature to send out a shot of water. If this girl and Nathan were to stop the fire from spreading though, they'd need each other's names. He gave her a quick look, "Name's Nathan Campbell." Then shift focus back to the fire.

Suddenly another water gun was used on the fires that were suddenly spreading quickly. A young man had quickly approached the duo with his own water pokemon, a mudkip and started to lend his help and even gave his name immediately. [break][break]

She grinned, it wasn't often that random trainers arrived to offer their help, nowadays it was mostly rockets just coming to try and beat her in battle. "Melody Miro." she said offering her own name in return. It was then that the source of the fire quickly found the two trying to combat it. Two wild fire pokemon. A wild slugma and a salazzle. They both looked at the duo trainers with their pokemon out and decided they wanted to pick a fight with them. [break][break]

Slugma unleashed a flame thrower and a salazzle using gunk shot at the pair "Freeze dry!" she ordered quickly as ice started to spread around slugma, attempting to cool it off a bit.

It turned out that the girl with him was someone he'd heard of: Melody Miro. A member of the Elite four, she was definitely someone he'd recognize under normal circumstances. However, with the spreading fire he hadn't recognized her. 

Now he really had to do good, he needed to make a good first impression. As if reading his thoughts, two Pokémon approached them. A Slugma and a Salazzle. Both were fire types, so it was obvious that they'd started the fire. Nathan had been in battles before of course but battling as a fire spread was completely different. He took a deep breath, watching as Melody started by targeting the Slugma. He decided it'd probably be best for both of them to focus on the same enemy, "Mudkip, Rock Slide." He'd say, pointing to the Slugma as his Mudkip threw a large boulder at the enemy.

She saw a patch of flowers at risk of getting crushed by the boulder nathan had created with rock slide. She was particularly fond of these flowers since she had learned of them in fioreli's flosetry "Inteleon! Snipe shot that boulder!" she said as the pokeball opened and inteleon made quick work of the boulder by firing some powerful and precise shots into the rock, making it crumble away before it hit the floor. [break][break]

"A powerful move, you focus on battling them! I'll keep the damage to a minimum!" she said as lapras continued to fire off sparkling arias into the forest fire. She rushed over to the patch of flowers and spread her arms out, trying to protect them with her own body if she had to. They were important to her.
