rhian feels

upset. she doesn't understand what's gotten over leo but the frown marring his face makes her heart ache. with the jangmo-o taking up at least half of his attention (half too much compared to what rhian is used too), these feelings are exacerbated. they're threatening to explode.

when the pokémon she'd been previously so eager to add to leo's roster finally goes inside its new abode, rhian can feel a weight she didn't know she was carrying lift off her shoulders. a big pout on her lips precede the bear hug she pretty much tackles her boyfriend with.

"i'm sorry i'm dumb and don't always understand." a sniffle dies in her throat. she tries to hide it and her face in his chest, where he wouldn't be able to see.

the sound of footsteps against rock rings somewhere outside her little bubble. rhian doesn't pay it any mind. she's oblivious to it. all she cares about is earning her boyfriend's forgiveness, anything that can take the pain away and put a smile in its place.

rhian's voice

is muffled by his shirt. "i try. i've been trying," she cries, and only separates herself from leo when she feels tears beginning to spring out her eyes. she doesn't want to wet his nice shirt with the proof of her dumbness.

she tries to wipe her tears away but it's hard. her face's a mess. it's wet and gross and the more she tries to stop, the worse it gets.

"i'm sorry," she says, "i'm sorry." the words are repeated over and over, a mechanical reaction from her brain's system one, as they tend to be when she tries to apologize for anything.

she wants to be held again, but she refuses to go near leo for fear of ruining his clothes. they were supposed to go to the nice café later. they can't go in with leo's clothes looking damp and gross. that is, if leo even wanted to go with her after this. what if he was mad at her now? what if he never stopped being mad? the thought makes her cry even louder.

"i'll do better." she promises—very short of pleading. it's a promise she intends to keep even if she doesn't know how. anything to keep leo from leaving her.
