MARCH UPDATE

This bright summer day started off rather peaceful. The skies were humming with the sound of fluttering wings, and a light breeze could be felt nipping at her cheeks. It was so tranquil, in fact, that Rory had the splendid idea of expanding her horizons.

If you fill your days with new exciting hobbies, you'll never grow bored, is what she thought to herself. And, while she was able to shoo away the dullness of mundanity, she found something far worse creeping up from the shadows: absolute mayhem.

"FEN FEN FEN FEN CODE RED," She squeaked into the phone, hear heart thrumming loud enough to be picked up from the mic. From the other end, the man would hear the harsh vibration of buzzing, the occasional screech from Rory, and the sound of rapid, unrhythmic breathing. "COME NOW, PLEASE!"

Whenever he would arrive, he would come to find a single Rory, swallowed up by a beekeeper outfit, lying face down on the ground.

the name that pops up on his phone isn't an unfamiliar one. not by a long shot. he browses her social media pretty often, keeping tabs in the way not-so-close friends kind of do. friends that have grown apart. because fen's never really been great with the whole effort thing before.

but he answer easily. nonetheless, bottle of cider raising to his lips. his smile falls, though, when rory sputters through the phone. he shoots upright, standing far too quickly. black spots dance on the edge of his vision and he shakes his head, cursing as he fumbles with a shirt and a wallet that doesn't want to be found.

"shit. okay. okay." he finally manages to grab the thing and is about to tell rory to hold on while he puts her on hold when the buzzing from the other end gets louder and then it goes silent.

after calling a flying taxi and arguing with the driver to push the damn corviknight as fast as possible, he gets unceremoniously dumped on her doorstep.

around back, he sees them - a swarm of combee and vespiquen, trying (and, thankfully) failing at piercing the beekeeping suit the woman is wearing.

he releases stymphalia immediately. the skarmory grates her beek, taking off in a flurry to deliver a wing attack at the horde and get them to disperse.

fenris uses the cover to grab rory by the shoulder and shake her. "get up. you gotta move, rory!"

Failure.

She was a failure.

First, the bees got out. Then, they got angry. Now they're furious and trying to rip her to shreds, all before ravaging the nearby unsuspecting town.

Tears dotted the corner of her eyes as she sniffled into the plush grass below, accepting her ensured demise. Death by a thousand stings-- a fitting death for a poet.

End scene....unless?

"get up. you gotta move, rory!"

The familiar voice tied to a rough shake was enough to return the woman back to reality. Wide, doleful eyes turned back at him.

"Fenris... I-I messed up," She whimpered. With the grace of a newborn deer, the woman rose to her feet, following her friend's ushering her towards the baseline of the nearby trees. Her hands gripped at his arm. "I was just trying to make honey..."

this isn't the first wild hobby rory's had that's gone horribly wrong. why she can't just be normal and take up something like - like crocheting is beyond him. then again, the needles would probably find a way to get possessed or something insane. so he just smiles dumbly down at her while she blubbers on about wanting to make honey.

"the hell did you do, then? try to beat it out of them?" he looks bewilderedly back at the mess of insects that have zeroed in on the shining bird that's been attacking them.

phae's strong, but even she can only give the run-around on such numbers for so long. so he throws his other two pokeballs out, releasing the twin corvisquire. they dive into the frenzy and give stymphalia some reprieve while fenris racks his brain on what to do.

short of knocking out all the bees, they don't seem to want to stop.

"really though. why are they so angry?"

The sound of stingers clanking against the skarmory's metal coating only further added to the embarrassment and shame she felt. Head lowering, she continued to babble on, a clear explanation becoming more and more impossible for Fenris to retrieve. "I, I just tried to sing to them. I read that combees like it when they're sang to-- that it tends to make their honey sweeter too!"

A series of intense sniffs followed this initial explanation. She rubbed the back of her arms across her eyes, pushing away the tears that threatened to continue spilling out. If only Rory knew how awful of a singer she actually was, and how horrid of a time these poor bugs went through for more than an hour worth of time. "I don't know why're they're so angry..."

Bruno Mars, the sandshrew, could sense his owner's stress from way inside his ball. Because of this, an arc of red shot out from her side, and in seconds, a new pokemon had entered the field. The small pokemon let out a worried cry before kicking Fenris's shin, the burden of an unsavory assumption falling on his shoulders. "What should we do...?"

and at this, he bursts out laughing. he's known rory too long not to have sung a few duets with her while jamming out to the radio. he by no means has an impressive singing voice, but rory's is something awful. of course the bees could only react with violence.

he grabs the hem of his shirt and pulls it up so he can help wipe away some of rory's tears. but he backs away, cursing and grabbing at his knee, when her sandshrew decides to pop out of its ball and attack him.

fenris scowls down at the pokemon and then points at the dizzying battle happening beside them. "it wasn't me, you idiot. now go help stymphalia and the others."

then he reaches back out for rory's hands and squeezes. "ror, you need to instruct bruno for me. stymphalia and the twins need help. c'mon."

The squeeze was just the jumpstart she needed. Sniffling, the wobbly woman wiped the last of her tears away with the back of her arm before leveraging herself back onto her feet.

"Thanks," She whimpered, voice soft and appreciative. Despite what others may say about Fenris' finicky nature, Rory always knew him to be reliable when it counted the most. Like today.

Craning her neck forward, Rory peered down at her irked sandshrew and offered a consoling smile. It was always so cute whenever Bruno worked himself up like this. Well, not for Fenris, but for her it was. "Bruno -- Hey Bruno...!" The small pokemon snapped his head towards her, concerned. It was obvious he only wanted to help his precious trainer. "Fenris is a friend, alright? He's Just trying to help."

Bruno, still not fully convinced, looked back towards the red head, sharpened eyes narrowed and lethal.

"No, Bruno, don't. The combee they're---" She threw her finger towards the savage group of honey-sucking insects. "the problem."

fenris braces himself for another smack from the alolan sandshrew. his leg still has a heartbeat of its own and he still has half a mind to sic stymphalia onto the damn thing, but luckily rory has things under control. mostly under control.

one of the combee clashes with stymphalia. bird and bee exchange blows; the sound of its stinger raking over her steel feathers is excruciating. even huginn and muninn flutter with frustration, looping to help fend for the bird.

"you ready?" he says sideways to rory, but before she can answer, 'cause she can do this, he whistles.

"herd them! give bruno a clear shot and then scatter!"

Rory's heart thundered in her ears, pounding with enough ferocity to beckon a trip to the doctors after this matter had been settled. She gave Fenris one long, pleading look, almost as if to apologize for the reddening mark on his leg, or the eventual bruise it'd leave behind. When it became clear, both by his words and eyes, that he had expected her to step up, well, she had no other choice but to oblige.

Quivering eyes traveled back onto the battlefield. Her brows knitted back together and her nose scrunched up as followed the fluid movements of stringer clattering against steel.

"Bruno, use ROLLOUT!"

As per her request, the small critter balled itself up and sped forward. Its speed quickened with each second it spent peddling towards the combee, all until it came to its peak, and he leaped off from the ground. Like a certain blue hedgehog, Bruno flew, bouncing from combee to combee, juggling off their heads til each one of them was thoroughly knocked on to their asses.

When he finished, the small pokemon unraveled itself and look back towards @fenris , eyes screaming a painful: 'you're next'
