rough currents, pierced by the motion of thrumming wings, left distinct strands rattled. high above the beauty of hoenn was seen in absolute. every spec of greenery and flicker of life visible through the gentle clouds. the scare layer that barely bothered them. 

delphi could feel her cheeks numbing. they'd said the heat had risen yet the heat could never surpass the chill that lay high above. the snap was as thrilling as the height. she leaned back momentarily, facing the endless blue above them before settling comfortably. 

at least till raz decided to move without warning. 

the beast could never truly be tamed. what it took to surpass such an obstacle was simply friendship. unpredictable instincts where the shade of verdant scales dove towards the earth. her slender arms hung firmly, frame growing lighter with the drop. 

eventually the pace evened itself with one sharp lift, earning a groan from the girl, laughter quickly signifying her blissful condition. "oh! over there!" she shouts out, hardly perceiving the gym leader before her similar beast took the spotlight. 

raz, feeling dared by the kinship, passes by them in close range before circling back. landing with the immense gusts of her two large wings. dark strands of the earth dancing within the breeze. 

"hey! i didn't know you had—!" inept in her sudden movement, the vertigo for flight has delphi flailing forwards. her descent face first into the soft earth thankfully blanketed by the lush grass.

"oof..." dirt smears center of the forehead and she looks up at cait with a childish grin. eventually floundering upright— presently a mess. "a flygon, i didn't know you had one." she finished, brushing off the remains of the ground from her bare legs.

she blinks onward— owlishly against the tease. fingers fumble against the disorganized strands, catching the wisp of texture. one leaf torn from the coral shade that reflected brilliantly against the sun. 

delphi observes the sliver of growth, letting it slip past her gentle hold and teeter towards the ground. the gesture of embarrassment is slight as she rubs the nape of her neck. quickly reverting elsewhere. 

"hey! you don't need to be so formal, you know, i could've sworn i told you this before!" an over-exaggerated point directs clearly in the path of cait. however, there is no ounce of ill purpose in the words of the girl. as per usual, she remains an oddity. 

laughter ensues, "and of course i've gotten stronger! dealing with scaredy—cats was plenty helpful!" she jokes, referring to their most recent haunted venture. an opener through the usual docile nature of the opposing figure. a weakness one could hardly voice. 

"are you sure you want to battle?" one hand cradles the left of her cheek, pondering in a comical display, "i wouldn't want you to end up like a little daisy." those that had gotten the pleasure were obscured in the mystery of her life. if one thing was for sure. 

the surrounding beasts told of it all.

nothing less is predicted in the jest.

"somehow i find that hard to believe." delphi added before the pair separated. expanding the distance between them for the battle that would come. she allows the other the pleasure of advancing first in her choice— smart given the clumsy display. 

daunting fragments scatter the field, proving a nuisance for her team. anticipating battle within the safety of their capsules for something worth of a challenge. the present beast settles by her side as if itching to jump forth. delphi simply offers a pat.

"not yet," the flicker of bright eyes reach the larger pair, one hand throttling a single pokeball up and down, "that wasn't very nice." she remarks, unheard in the length that stood before them. the whistle of the wind caught within the startled grass. 

the motion abruptly stops, "alright, nila, don't hold out on me." and then, the silver of an omen is released. the shards of poison torn into her paws like sharp and unrelenting thorns. she grimaces immediately, the effect slow, but surely regarded.

future sight momentarily overlaps the shade of crimson, the pale blue flickering in the few seconds. it wouldn't have been surprising for the eventual clash to be misplaced. just as quickly, nila bounds forward, the horn distinctly taking on a coral glow. 

psycho cut throttles outward in sudden bursts.

the immunity to the essence does not faze either.

her expression remains piqued by the battle, dazzled by the confidence which provoked her still moving absol. stray bursts of light scatter the toxic spikes. rousing settled dust into the clarity of the air. 

with their vision obscured by the drifting current, it is simply a guess. nila stops momentarily, her senses alerted to the beginning of a hidden advance. one singular force tainted by the danger of poison.

psycho cut comes again and although the dark nature of the opposing pokemon overrules the move, its power is not to be disregarded.  they collide in a burst, wavering furiously together before dissipating. 



"don't give them a chance!" the current of the collision does not dismay her companion. nila moves quickly against the momentary grime, risen up by the motion of their attacks but drifting elsewhere. 

her chances for surprise is slim— yet absol is fast. 

megahorn resembles the beauty of greenery. the glowing shade expanding the entirety of her horn into something much larger. it could've been comparable to a sword. or perhaps, it was. 

reappearing through the fading cloud at a much closer range, nila charges forth hoping to land a direct hit upon the unsuspecting enemy. not that the pair could disregard the capability of the other.

the impact is powerful. 

prior to the seemingly pointless advances— now imply a different story. the omen foretold by elderly folk never misjudge the influence. what they had mistaken was the nature of the beast. a lonesome silver reflected by the light which glared upon them.

nila's weaponry fades as those large and daunting fangs lurch in her direction. it is not a sign of falter in the opponent. an attack can only last so long and she lets the drapion take hold of her horn. appeasing the pain of the elements ever so slightly.

foolish given the strength it held within those large canines. the essence flickering through her body with a distinct twinge of pain. however it is simply the key to retaliation. her actions are not to be questioned. 

"throw them back!" delphi shouts, and the vulnerability departs in nila's sudden strength. foul play takes all that had been brought forth, throttling herself around in a forcible turn.

eventually jerking outwards, hoping to throw the opponent into the earth below them. in one painful launch across the other side of their grand field of battle. the shift of the current resounds through her. 

"razor wind!" she says once more, anticipating the display with a still bound excitement. regardless if the venomous figure was still clung firmly on, the wind would grow around nila. violently cascading in the general direction of drapion.

the current of an immense collision ruffled coral strands, their previous dark shade overlapped by the brightness which reflected against the sunlight. her pale fingers block out the momentary current. 

nila may appear nonchalant in battle. those deep red eyes staring into the drapion with a frightening collectiveness. it was as if she knew everything. the next motion they would take, the next breath that would waver by their quivering lips. 

genuinely the toxic fragments were just as prominent in a being that remained so outwardly calm. the beast may have been slowly staggering in the taint yet, her fall would not come without results. nila was not a beast that allowed her enemy to surpass her. 

"nila," delphi says, her voice still cheery, "don't let them think. don't let them rest. show them what happens when they deal with the dark." distinct canines are revealed in the slightest of a smile. 

with cross poison slower this time, the razor wind throttles itself outwards. colliding into the gradual assembly of the opposing attack. it is the same counter as usual. two moves struck against each other in the abrupt process. 

the absol keeps moving. she doesn't allow drapion what time it needs to gander on an alternative. megahorn starts as it had before. enlarging the weapon into something dangerous. and then she leaps. the eventual strike into an eventual ending.

there was no ounce of surprise. in the defeat, nearly foreseen in the wrath of absol's blade, she smiled. the unfazed state leeks through in the slight beads of toxic's advance. the heaviness to those eyes staggering in her fading vision. 

but she was not done yet. 

future sight comes just as the stone edge does. nila manages to avoid the most of the jagged earth. their quick and mercilessly advance catching the limb of her hind leg; sending her skidding into the sidelines. 

psychic attacks retreat from the openings beneath the opposing beast. giving them no room for avoidance lest the other was quick to recall them. in their previous and seemingly aimless assault, it might've been easy to misplace future sight. 

"now!" delphi says, her expression painted with a restless grin. an element unlike the rest starts between parted jaws. overlapped in the orb that is thrown towards the lycanroc. shadow ball gives them no chance for recess in the suddenness of the other.
