”So, like, I was watching this alien movie the other night, super mid stuff, six out of ten–…” It’s lunch time for our hardworking, dedicated, lab-assigned Rocket grunts (although Ceri is technically a researcher now) and Ceri is enjoying some mid tier store-bought sushi while chatting with priam conrad. She pauses mid-conversation to have a piece of her maki roll, and then she keeps going as if nothing. ”It really got me thinking… What if Deoxys is actually using Killian Decker as a host for its little baby Deoxys… Deoxyses? Deoxi? Are they like… gonna burst out of him? Wild.”

It’s then that she gets a text, and she looks at the phone that had been resting on the counter next to her now almost-empty sushi container.

”Oh! By the way, have you given samples from your pokémon for M.A.G.M.A research?”

Priam does have some pretty cool pokémon, doesn’t he? She had promised she would help with the sample-collection, and she intends to keep that promise. Plus, it seems interesting! Who knows what kind of cool things they'll discover!

"oh shit! that's gonna be so rad! do people still say that word? anyways, that would mean we all get a little baby alien of our own right? surely, the higher ups won't have a problem since they always say everything is for the glory of rocket, and all that shit. and-"

priam kept on talking even as ceri gets a text message, only stopping to take another breath to answer the next query.

"what? that thing? are people still obsessed with that? hah! the lengths they go through just to be above the average human, unlike me!"

he puffs his chest before he composes himself, arranging his seating position properly, before giving an actual answer.

"i haven't. i'm not really interested in that, but i'm always down from brownie points! wanna take samples of them?"

a raised brow and a confident grin suggests that priam is so ready to show off.

To be fair, Ceri hadn’t forgotten the fact that Killian Decker had once swore her to secrecy, but a long time had passed since then, and between the excursion into the Tree of Life and the events of Necrozma’s recent attack, rumours had naturally begun to spread. She still wouldn’t have mentioned it to most people, of course, but Priam has a way of somehow always being aware of everything that goes on in Team Rocket. It’s like his special talent.

”Yeah yeah, Mr Awesome. You’re like, totally the best.” She chuckles, humouring him half because it’s hilarious and half because she really does want those samples. Ceri may think of Priam as her friend, she would even go as far as saying she adores him, but there’s no denying he has some cool pokémon she’s been dying to poke ever since she found out about them.

”Samples would be great, though! I guess we can start with one of your shadows or something? MAGMA set up this neat little shop, maybe if you get yourself enough merits you can redeem something cool!” She winks then.

screening magma from the words he hears was easy. he can just pretend he doesn't know what it was supposed to accomplish once he agrees to cooperate with samples.

"then i'll give ya some choices!"

from his seat, he wheels the office chair to a pc terminal by one of the desks. he logs his personal identification in to access his storage of pokemon as he stares down the list of pokemon others within the scientific community might find interesting.

"i got shadow alakazam-- and not just any other shadow alakazam! it's the first one! we used it as a basis for the first attempts for artificial shadow pokemon, fresh from the old lilycove gym leader from way before!"

"then i have my shadow bravy! he's like the rest of the artificial shadows, but he died and got brought back to life with the power of the tree of life so it has that infinity energy magic in him! it's from another universe though, like the father winter stuff you might've heard about."

"third on the line is guzzy! he's an ultra beast revived from just an arm with the power of blue mulch research! oh, we stole the arm from a high security league laboratory, by the way. it was so cool! wish you were there."

he leaves out his revived gabite from the choices.

"next, we have this rockruff i got that knows frenzy plant. i love him but he's kinda boring since everyone has some form of that mutated 'mon already. i guess same goes for this cranidos with pokerus. i have a shadow bravy too with a distortion form, but yeah, not really unique either..."

"oh, i have these naturally occurring mega pokemon too! they happen here and there, but they're still an anomaly!"

priam conrad is, without a doubt, one of the coolest people Ceri knows, and she knows he’s aware of that too. See, most people who have collections of awesome, unique, and dangerous pokémon are serious and boring, but Priam? Priam knows just how awesome they are and will gladly go on and on and on about them. Bless him. Ceri adores him.

"he's a shadow 'mon! they're always mean!" priam blows air through his nostrils hard as he puffs his chest. "and you know it takes a mean trainer to handle a mean 'mon!"

ceri's aversion to psychic-types pique priam's interest— something that he takes note of. she's not the first person he knows to find a problem with them, though on hindsight, it brings a question to priam.

was this the reason he subconsciously doesn't collect them despite liking them?

getting rid of his mind of introspection, he goes back to pc to look at the box he left his alakazam on. he opens up its parameters on the screen, though they're mostly standard ones like its moves and such, and moves back to show ceri.

"whaddya think?"

there's nothing much explicitly stated on what was on the screen, but subtle differences that normally one wouldn't notice was present, namely an unrecognized ability and a permanent status condition.
