Moonblast Microbrew

Verdanturf Town

Established in 2020, MOONBLAST MICROBREW is a quaint, independent woman-owned craft beer brewery located in Verdanturf Town, right next to a field of wild lavender. The brewery is owned, and all of its beer created, by a young woman named Naomi Sato . Adjacent to the brewery, one can also find Synthesis Greenhouse, which serves as the primary hops and berry growing operation behind Moonblast's hoppier and fruitier concoctions. All are welcome to visit Moonblast for delicious and interesting craft beers and relaxing country scenery!

Moonblast Microbrew is open to the public every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 12pm - 9pm. It is closed to the public Sunday through Wednesday, so that Nomi can get her schoolwork done, attend classes at Slateport University, and of course, brew more beer. Moonblast’s primary source of income these days is through exports to bars and restaurants throughout Hoenn.

THE EXTERIOR

Moonblast Microbrew is a relatively small operation, but with a lot of beautiful land to enjoy while visiting. Over an acre of green pastures and lavender fields can be found surrounding the brewery, and the exterior building includes an outdoor seating area with several shaded wooden picnic tables. Potted plants and hanging lights adorn the patio area, and there is a rotating selection of local food trucks available on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays (ranging from savory to sweet). Off to the left of the main brewery building, there is a small, humble two-bedroom cottage that Nomi calls home, as well as the green glass walls of Synthesis Greenhouse.

Pokemon are welcome to sit both inside and outside of the brewery with their trainers, but please, not battles on brewery grounds!

THE INTERIOR

The inside of Moonblast Microbrew is small, but quite cozy and cheerful indeed. Booths line the walls of the main taproom, seating parties of up to six, but folks are also welcome to sit at the bar. Nomi herself does do some of the serving, though her Pokemon companions, as well as a few part-time local bartenders, are the primary taproom staff. More potted plants, some hanging and some resting on tables, can be found throughout the taproom, as well as various artworks made out of salvaged materials. The entire place - with its exposed brick and pink DIY checkered tablecloths - has a rustic, homey, friendly feel to it.

In the back room, behind closed doors, one will find Nomi’s brewing equipment, canning machine, and fully stocked kitchen. Empty bottles line long shelves, waiting for beer to be packaged for sale.

THE BREWER

Naomi Sato is a 22-year-old student at Slateport University, studying Chemistry and Pokemon Biology. She learned to brew beer from her grandmother, who was also passionate about the art, while growing up in Ecruteak City during her childhood. It started by learning how to make tinctures and elixirs from various plants she and her grandmother would wild forage for together, and eventually evolved into Nomi becoming interested in her grandmother’s brewing, distilling, and decoction. When Nomi’s grandmother died, Nomi inherited all of her brewing equipment, and decided to start over in Hoenn, where she was eventually able to realize her dream of attending classes at Slateport University. Starting a small microbrewery turned out to be the perfect way to fund her studies long-term, as well as provide a more professional outlet for her favorite hobby.

POKEMON ASSISTANTS

Most of Nomi's Pokémon help out at the brewery one way or another. Nomi's longest friend and most loyal companion, her Sylveon VALERIAN, however, does not favor hard labor and can often be found napping out in the lavender field instead of doing any work.

ROLLOUT IPA SERIES

• ROLLOUT 1 - A bright little session IPA that's perfect for drinking all day (3% ABV)
• ROLLOUT 2 - Standard IPA brewed with citra and mosaic hops (6% ABV)
• ROLLOUT 3 - Double IPA that truly packs a punch, but with a hint of orange peel! (8% ABV)
• ROLLOUT 4 - Triple IPA. This one’s the knockout, folks. Try it if you dare! (10% ABV)

SEASONAL SERIES

• PETAL DANCE - Funky flower farmhouse saison, brewed with whatever wildflowers Nomi has gathered that week (6% ABV)
• BITTER MALICE - Extremely hoppy Double IPA with a hint of pine and a touch of spice. Not for the faint of heart. (8% ABV)
• RUSTBORO ROAST - Rich amber ale brewed with toasted pumpkin seeds (6.5%)
• SHADOW PUNCH - Halloween special: a darker-than-night stout brewed with vanilla, cinnamon, and pumpkin puree. Be careful, this one's as strong as it is spooky! (10% ABV)
