Katherine had imagined that Primarina would remain hidden for a longer time- but the SPRINGTIDE STORM is more than welcomed. It reveals the location of the water type, which prompts Mimikyu to react.

Its shadow stretches thin and long, deftly slithering below the approaching storm to strike the fellow fairy. The SHADOW SNEAK strikes, and only then does the storm follow, sending Mimikyu tumbling.

"If you think you have what it takes," she's smiling. "Then by all means, Melody, please do."
[break][break]
The subsequent ICY WIND is not met with a COPYCAT. Instead, Mimikyu's shadow strikes once more-- faster. Before it is caught by the icy attack.

Its speed might lower, but its shadow remains intangible even now. SHADOW SNEAK reigns supreme.

Well, she WOULD have had Primarina lead the dance. But like any good diva, she knew when it was her time to bow out. [break][break]

Yet, despite the aqua rings healing Melody's Primarina over time, it wasn't enough to fully restore her water-type Pokémon. So in the end the two Mimikyu's two shadow sneaks managed to do in the diva's Pokémon. "Oh." she says after a few moments of silence. "That thing is satan." she comments as she recalls her pokemon. "You fought well Primarina, sorry it didn't go better." [break][break]

Melody's gaze turns towards Katherine. "Your Mimikyu fought well, hopefully the rest of this battle is just as entertaining for you." she says as Melody grabs a pokeball and tosses it out onto the field. [break][break]

"Upchuck!" she shouts.[break][break]

Her heatran took to the field, his drool from his goofy expression dripping onto the pristine floors as the magma cooled to the touch on the tile. "Clef!" she orders to signify the start of Heatrans battle strategy as the pokemon begins to use MAGMA STORM to try and trap Mimikyu in the field.

Katherine's Mimikyu is still standing- but only barely. Following the Primarina's swan song, the ghost is on the very edge of collapsing. Both the SPRINGTIDE STORM and the ICY WIND have done considerable damage to the elite four's partner, who was still struggling to stand still.

Melody's Heatran is judged with a careful, narrowed stare before an order is issued, "Mimikyu, PAIN SPLIT."
[break][break]
A second attempt at healing the ghost of the majority of its damage is made, and although it manages to split an orb out of the Legendary Melody summoned-- it never once reaches it. The MAGMA STORM rages on and delivers the final blow, causing the Mimikyu to succumb to its wounds.
[break][break]
"-Ah."
[break][break]
Unfortunate. Katherine barely knows which Pokemon she'd rather send out next, but a decision is made quickly, granting her fellow elite four little time to prepare for its arrival.
[break][break]
Shaymin appears.
[break][break]
It looks at Melody first, Heatran second, and lastly, Katherine herself. It appears confused.
[break][break]
"LEECH SEED." Confused as it may be, it acts all the same. The hedgehog-like Pokemon fires a flurry of seeds, all aimed at the general direction of its opponent.

She knew the battle would escalate to this level and she was excited for it. After all, why would hoenn's brightest and shiniest of stars stunt their glimmer by using regular pokemon? A battle against two special pokemon was much more interesting and dramatic, just how she liked it. [break][break]

but she hadn't yet had a chance to see how Shaymin battled so this would be a great learning experience for her. The leech seed soars across the field, stray seeds latching onto her heatran who's health was quickly sapped by the little green hedgehog. [break][break]

She had to get rid of it, quickly. "Heatran! Crescendo!"she orders as Heatran erupts into a plume of fire and smoke as it uses the move LAVA PLUME and sends a barrage of flames towards shaymin. [break][break]

She was attempting to burn the leech seed off of Heatran to stop the shaymin from stalling out the battle by whittling away at her pokemon.

The Shaymin's Gracidea flower glows lightly when its seeds begin to sap the Heatran's health. However, it doesn't last long. No considerable damage is done before the flames consume the seeds and cleanse the Heatran of its disease.

"Aim low."

The glow's hue changes from an innocent, pale pink into a dangerous, bright gold. The mirror tiles beneath Heatran glimmer with a similar shade as the EARTH POWER comes to fruition.

Not only does the Shaymin aim to tackle the flames before they can reach it-- this attack seeks to devastate Melody's partner by exploiting its double-weakness to ground-type moves.

The leech seed managed to burn off and become nothing but ash. [break][break]

However the attacks are nothing but a pale flame against the stoney walls shaymin managed to rip from the earth to act as a shield. After the attack subsides those very same rocks that were shields against melody's attack were turned into weapons as they seeked to slam into Heatran. [break][break]

Katherine's attack lands it's mark against Heatran who tries to shake off the rubble from his body. He tried to hide it as best he could but Melody knew katherine was aware of how much the move did to her little lava turtle. "Don't lose tempo heatran! Allegro!" she orders as the goofy heatran drooled and then let out a roar, he suddenly charges forward, attempting to charge down the shaymin with a IRON HEAD.

The charge alone is enough for Katherine to issue another command, preparing for the arrival of the much sturdier and bulkier Heatran.

"Shaymin, LEECH SEED. Scatter them."
[break][break]
The grass type does not move to dodge the incoming IRON HEAD, for whatever reason. Instead, it spins in place whilst shooting its LEECH SEEDS, allowing some to pelt the mirrors before Heatran makes contact with it.
[break][break]
Despite the heavy blow and being hurled like some toy, the Shaymin succeeds in its seeding attempt. It aimed to cover the arena with its seeds as much as possible before hitting Heatran itself.

They remain glued to the mirrors, forming a makeshift minefield.
[break][break]
As it winces, some of its health is restored. Slowly but surely.

The iron head connects, Shaymin sent flying away. However it's not before leech seeds fly all across the room and even land on not only heatran but the rest of the room. [break][break]

She sent out impromptu land mines, creative. [break][break]

The leech seed saps away at heatran's health, restoring shaymin's own vitality. Melody however can just use the same maneuver again with a little twist this time. "Duet!" she calls out as Heatran begins to channel another MAGMA STORM. However instead of the attack hitting shaymin, it instead locks onto Heatran itself. The storm whips up but instead of harming heatran it seems to be absorbing itself over time due to FLASH FIRE. The boost itself isn't a particularly strong one but it does remove the leech seeds on it's body again. [break][break]

Then the second storm comes, in the form of a LAVA PLUME that is enhanced slightly by the earlier FLASH FIRE proc. [break][break]

Yet the leech seeds on the field she planted are still there, her movement options were limited.

It's good thinking on Melody's part. Using the Heatran's own flames to boost its attack is smart, but Katherine wastes no time complimenting her fellow elite.

"Stop the fire! Blow it back!"
[break][break]
Shaymin breathes an OMINOUS WIND to counter the LAVA PLUME, but in reality, it only manages to hold a portion of it back. The
hedgehog stands still like a SCARECROW in a field, engulfed by fire momentarily.
[break][break]
And it's then, when the smoke clears, that the hedgehog-like pokemon reveals that it wasn't just burning during this time. It channelled its EARTH POWER while obscured, careful not to alarm the Heatran and Melody until its counter-attack already approached.

Heatran was so preoccupied with the ominous wind, and beating out that attack that he doesn't notice the incoming earth power that was threatening to send him flying. [break][break]

And so it did, Heatran became air born and was sent onto his back. [break][break]

he wiggled from side to side to try and flip himself over and eventually he rolls onto his side. Stomping his feet multiple times with angry stomps as the FIRE TYPE grows angry and decides to counter with it's own EARTH POWER, using the earth manipulation to flip him back onto his feet. The floor cracks and starts to rush over towards Shaymin and opens up releasing a torrent of rocks underneath the hedgehog. [break][break]

"Turn the tides Heatran! Go!" she says continuing to cheer her on.

An opening Melody couldn't afford to give Katherine, but one that the senior elite four is more than willing to capitalize on. Concern fills the Shaymin's expression with dread as the EARTH POWER commences. Chunks of rocks are sent flying towards the grass-type before Katherine's command comes out.

Heatran's heat and light boosting the synthesis was certainly bad. The chipping magma storm wasn't enough to continue to wittle away at shaymin. Amazing how such a small little hedgehog could take so many punches, melody was impressed. "Upchuck, this song has run it's course. Shall we?" she asks as the heatran turns it's head and drools a bit as he happily agrees with Melody. [break][break]

"do it!" she shouts as heatran unleashes a full powered LAVA PLUME, the mirrors on the walls beginning to turn a scarlet red from the heat and melody uses her arms to shield herself against the searing heat. Upchuck roars and then begins to rush towards shaymin as it still had the MAGMA STORM from before circling it's body and increasing it's power via FLASH FIRE.

The hedgehog-like pokemon does not wait for Katherine's order this time around. As soon as the mirrors adopt a scarlet shade and the LAVA PLUME ois blown, it sucks in a tight breath through its mouth to power an OMINOUS WIND. Like before, it is used to mitigate damage rather than outright deny it altogether.

But that alone isn't enough.

Melody's two-pronged attack is relentless, and they must respond in kind. Quickly. The charging Heatran is dangerous, after all.

"EARTHPOWER again. Aim low. Make sure that if it reaches you, it has to pay for it," the Malevolent's wish is the legendary's command. It does asked, uplifting pillars of earth not only to attack Heatran but also to deter it from reaching them.

The ominous wind connects, stalling heatran slightly but the Pokémon was determined to slam into the hedgehog with Melody cheering him on.
However, she was well aware of what Katherine was gonna do at this point, the battle had gotten repetitive but Melody had plenty of tricks up her sleeve. "Leap!" she orders as Heatran suddenly lowers itself to the ground and jumps into the air over shaymin as the EARTH POWER MISSES. [break][break]

She had used it multiple times in the battle the same way, allowing melody to follow her tempo and anticipate it. "Drop down on the shaymin with your fire!" she says as the LAVA PLUME COVERING HEATRAN quickly descends upon shaymin.

Interesting. Although Melody leaves Heatran open to an attack by leaping up above the EARTHPOWER pillars, Katherine knows that her Shaymin won't be able to capitalise on it quickly enough. It could try-- but the expected result would disappoint her.

Thankfully, despite not aiming to hit the Heatran with the OMINOUS WIND, Shaymin did manage to do that, and in doing so, it gained a slight, invaluable boost to its special defence.
[break][break]
Heatran lands above Shaymin just as the smaller of the two legendaries channels another EARTH POWER. Although the strike clearly wore the pokemon down, it had thankfully regained some of its health, allowing it to recover at a good pace.
[break][break]
Unlike the previous one, this EARTH POWER does not call for pillars of earth to launch from the ground. Instead, it directs orange energy to erupt from below Heatran.

Should it leap again, it should land all the same.
