Okay. Maybe this wasn't the time to start finding hills to die on. Slowking's Psychic energies caused Adrenaline to quiver and shudder, slumping over as she fought to stay conscious. The Absol's Night Slash tore right through Mori's robes, leaving the ghost crashing to the floor next to Isaac. No. This wasn't the time for vengeance. Not while they needed him.[break][break]

He clicked his tongue, tossing Pokeballs at the two to return them. Despite still being fit to fight, Shockmaster followed suit. She was still confused, and outside of ball form she'd be dead weight for what came next. That just left two of Isaac's team left; an increasingly battered Sunny, and the miraculously untouched Coulomb.[break][break]

Of the two, it was Coulomb who acted first. His body glowed a vivid yellow, the intensity of his CHARGE lightning up the nighttime streets. Peering through the glow would've been increasingly difficult; how much power was Coulomb trying to build up here, and just what did he plan on doing with it?[break][break]

The answer, it turned out, was nothing at all. It was just a great, big distraction as Sunny flew towards Isaac, the Rocket hopping onto his back. In a single, graceful swoop the Crobat took to the skies, grabbing Coulomb between his foot-stubs and flying away. How much time would the flash of light buy them? How much time would the TAILWIND that he just kicked up buy them? And without a flyer of their own, would the ranger's team be able to keep pace?[break][break]

In the immediacy of the situation, Isaac and Sunny didn't even have time to consider these variables. They only had time for speed. Arceus, may it be enough.

Orion's laugh is more of a growl.

"You were given a chance to surrender. Should've taken it, asshole." He makes sure to stress the word Isaac Merlo had not said.

He's more than eager for a fight, now, his prosthetic radiating with pain as the Rotom's gathered energy seeks release. He levels it at Isaac, STORED POWER released like a shotgun blast, but a brilliant burst of light from the Pinchurchin's CHARGE sees the attack fire wide. Cursing, Orion grips at the crease of his metal elbow as the arm seizes up from the force of the attack. The prosthetic was new, the Rotom's bond with him was new, and the risks taken were great.

It buys them the time they need to escape.

"Fuck! Tianyi!"

But no matter how skilled the Alakazam's powers, TELEPORTING into mid-air is not an option she will entertain. As her FUTURE SIGHT comes to fruition, Altair aims a vengeful THUNDER at the retreating bat.

"Damn it."

[attr="class","skullbody"]The Ranger wasn't letting up on the assault, as increasingly impotent as it had become. "Coulomb, can you do a bit of field surgery?" Isaac asked, the Pincurchin nodding before jabbing Sunny right in a random pressure point. This ACCUPRESSURE caused Sunny's wing membranes to spell and fur to bristle out; another boost against energy-based attacks. While Isaac had been hoping for an extra burst of speed, this wasn't a terrible consolation prize.[break][break]

Then the future came racing towards Sunny, and the consolation prize became all the more important. Psychic energy surrounded Sunny, putting the squeeze on as painfully as possible. Even with his newly buffed out abilities, this was going to hurt. Bad. At this rate, they'd be knocked out of the sky for sure.[break][break]

In desperation, Isaac spread his limbs wide, covering as much of Sunny as he possibly could. The psychic pressure was agonizing as it squeezed down on his back, and his scream echoed across the sky. It was a last little win for Orion to savor, perhaps. However, with Isaac covering Sunny from above, and Coulomb covering him from below, the bat would make it out of this snafu intact.[break][break]

Illuminated in the night sky by Coulomb's Lightningrod, Isaac flipped Orion off with vigor before speeding away.[break][break]

It wouldn't be until they reached the city limits that Isaac and Sunny admitted how exhausted they were. Sunny's wingbeats slowed to just enough to keep him off the ground, and as Isaac slid off of his back he damn near collapsed. It took the release of Shockmaster to stop him from falling over, the Electivire scooping under his shoulder to support his weight. "That was a hell of a fight, guys," he wheezed, keeping quiet to avoid straining his freshly-tenderized back muscles. "You're all getting ice cream and a pampering for this. My treat."[break][break]

Ugh. Nope, he was trying to be happy, but the thought of how beaten down his team was stuck right in his craw. The agony he was in as he staggered onto the route didn't help in the slightest. "Yeah. Sure. Should've surrendered," he hissed, voice bitter. If he surrendered, he'd probably be eating a decent chunk of jail time after all the shit he'd been through. If he surrendered, Rocket would have his head for becoming a liability. If he surrendered, he'd have no guarantee that punch-drunk prick wouldn't have kicked the shit out of him "just to make sure."[break][break]

He looked to the seventh Pokeball looped around his belt, home to the liberated Growlithe. If he surrendered, this little guy would've been back in dire straits for sure. "Now, c'mon. Let's get you somewhere better."[break][break]
