MARCH UPDATE

With autumn just rolling in, the warm and pleasant weather in Hoenn was far from willing to falter to the change in seasons. In fact, it was still very much so a lovely day out in the tropical region. Over in the nice, open space found in Verdanturf, Sasha was just settling a few tasks inside with two of his Pokemon hanging about with him, one helping out while the other "helped out", the young Shinx cub running about and losing focus within seconds as a young, eager and curious critter does. It was to be expected that he would be this way, so fresh from the egg and in such a new environment.

Meanwhile there was one Pokemon from Sasha's team who was not present. The older Heracross, just coming out of his prime, sitting out in the open out front the house under a nice shady tree he'd occupied. His entire body was scarred from battle and scraped up, a lot of it having been already from his time in the wild, having been a reigning male of his area. Heracles now got to live a much easier retirement life, sitting in a relaxed way under his favorite tree, the scarring from his old life showing his status as an old veteran of the sorts.

Heracles meanwhile would simply dream a dream of his old life. Remembering the times when he was a young, eager Heracross looking to win the favor of the local females. Constantly sparring with the other males of the forest for recognition and later to attain breeding rights. They were his glory days, that was for sure, and he was proud of his status as the resident alpha male of the forest. While initially he'd been quite upset and aggressive about his newfound capture, now the old beetle was immensely bonded toward the trainer he once held an intense resentment toward. They'd been through a lot together in the past years they'd grown together. In a way, Heracles was proud of the trainer's progress, and honestly his own.

Dione had finished most of the feeding for the day at the rehab, however she did need to restock on honey. It was just a quick simple trip to the feed store, but on her way there, she saw something that caught her interest! A hercacross. Head tilted as she got a little closer, seeing the banged up body on it. That had her frowning, was it hurt? Was it laying here to rest up? Mmmm...

Looking around, she did not see anyone around to ask about this. If she approached and it was hurt, it was possible it would attack her. Tch. Soon releasing Fancy from her ball, the butterfly tilted her head with a little trill. "Sweetie, go check on that hercacross, hmm?" Fancy nodded, fluttering over to peer down at the giant bug.

"Viiii?" She called, trying to check on him. Was he alright? Hello?

At the small call out to him, all Heracles did was open an eye, now roused from his peaceful rest. Glancing only ever so slightly to the Pokemon calling to him, the Heracross simply gave a passive sound and turned away to go back to his peaceful little nap. He was clearly not interested in whatever the other one had to say, and made it pretty obvious with a rather curt response just then. Heracles had never really been one to like strangers, unfortunately.

Though thankfully before anything could turn risky, Sasha appeared with a large platter of snacks out the front door and this was what had prompted the Heracross to get up and move toward the man alongside his two other teammates, nodding to the Togekiss and even lifting up the excitable young Shinx who wanted to play on his horn. Sasha meanwhile smiles and gently rubbed the Heracross on the head. "Hey, Heracles. Made your favorite." He told the beetle who looked quite delighted at the bowl of mixed fruit and honey that was part of the large snack tray for all the Pokemon.

Then Sasha finally noticed the others nearby and waved to them. "Hello!" He called out with a friendly smile while his Pokemon got busy digging into the meals. "Is everything okay?" He asked, wondering what they were doing so close, especially since it looked like the other Pokemon had been initially somewhat invested in whatever it was Heracles had been doing.

Fancy frowned as she was ignored, turning to look at her trainer for some direction on this. However, it was cut short as someone came outside. Dione focused on him, seeing him feed the scarred up beetle. Oh, so it did have a trainer? Though that had her squinting, did he get all those scars from this guy? That put her a little on the defensive, but... the guy seemed friendly.

"Hello." She approached, but still kept her distance, as Fancy came and landed on her head, spreading it's wings and giving it almost a bow-look behind Dione's head. "I saw the Heracross, got concerned." She motioned to his scars. Dione was blunt. "I run a pokemon rehab here. So I was checking to make sure he didn't need help. I assume you're his trainer?"

"Ah, also, I'm Dione."

Sasha nodded in response pretty casually as the person before him mentioned being a bit worried regarding Heracles. Though it didn't necessarily bother Sasha with her rather wary response to him, Heracles was a different story. Rising from his small snack, setting it down briefly as the Heracross turned and moved to stand firmly beside Sasha, giving the woman and her Pokemon both a hard glare. One could easily tell exactly what he was saying through that look, the Heracross was practically daring this stranger to try some silly business, expressing an intense protectiveness over Sasha and the other two Pokemon.

"Easy, Heracles. They mean well, go ahead and enjoy your food." Sasha murmured gently as he reached out to gently pat the Heracross's head, though Heracles stood there glaring for a moment, he finally nodded and turned back to continue snacking with his teammates. "Sasha." He introduced himself back. "And that was Heracles, I'm indeed his trainer. If it was all the scarring that had you concerned, honestly your guess is as good as mine. I had found him this way years ago and never really knew for a fact where those scars came from." He admitted. "I never questioned it, really." He remarked with a simple shrug.

Looking to the person and their Pokemon, he offered a gentle and kind smile. "Would you both like a snack or something to drink at all? You're welcome to come meet everyone if you wish." He offered. It was genuine, sincere and clear he was simply a man who had nothing to hide. Sasha was very much so an open book in that regard, simply parading himself as he was. A friendly soul who was just spending his retirement adjusting to the region he had moved to.

Listening to what he had to say, it did make sense. Some Heracross were known to be extremely territorial. Perhaps they were just wounds from his younger days. Seeing how protective it got though, eased her mind of any mistreatment of the beetle. At the mention of food though, Fancy zoomed over and trilled. "Viii!"

Dione shook her head. "I suppose Fancy as spoken." Chuckling, she walked over towards him, offering out her hand. "I apologize for my rude assumption. Many people abuse bugs because they don't find them attractive or good..." The head shake. "If you're new to town, welcome."

When the butterfly Pokemon seemed quite excited at the prospect of food, Sasha gave a soft chuckle. "It would seem so." He said in soft amusement over the enthusiasm of the other Pokemon. He usually made sure to bring out extra, so there was probably a couple small bowls of the same food that Heracles often liked to eat laying there available. At the approach of the other Pokemon, Zephyr did a small spin. The Togekiss delighted to have some company, while the young Shinx gave a friendly mewl.

As usual, Heracles kept his distance, but gave a curt nod of acknowledgement to the butterfly. Sasha put focus back onto the woman, taking the offered hand in a friendly shake. "Oh, that's alright. I get how that can be a bit of an issue." He reassured her that there was no issue. "Yes, I just moved here pretty recently. Thank you."

"Out of curiosity, do you think you might be able to have a better idea of what may have been in Heracles's past if you got a better look of his wounds? I've always wondered what happened to him. Some of it has come from pretty intense battles, but a lot of his scars are what he had when I first caught him. He's one of my oldest Pokemon, after Zephyr there, who I began my journey with when he was just a Togepi, but I honestly never thought too much on his history." He hoped maybe this woman, knowing bugs probably much better than he did, could perhaps read the history of his scars and better reveal the beetle's harsh past.

Listening to the story, her head would nod from time to time. Rubbing her chin as she seemed quite invested in it. Eyes flickered towards the bug. A low sigh, she could indeed help with that. Even help ease her own anxieties over if he was telling the truth or not.

"Indeed, I can. I am free after I get my groceries, if you would like to come by then to let me see him. If not, we can always exchange numbers."

When he finished telling the small story about the Heracross, he waited while the woman seemed to think a bit before answering him and confirming that she would be able to help him with checking to see if she could discover anything from the Heracross's past. That was honestly a huge relief and he would be glad to see about any possible insight he could. Learn more about one of his closest friends.

"That would be great!" He wasn't going to be too busy today. "I'll swing by a bit later. I don't have much to do, just been trying to get settled in." He told her, glancing to Heracles who was now laying back to rest after filling up his stomach on the food. Zephyr had gone off to play with Tao, also having invited the Vivillon to come play with them, too.

A short nod, fishing into her pocket she pulled out a pencil, and some napkin from her other pocket. Well, alright then, Dione. Scribbling her number down and passing it over. "I shouldn't take more than an hour for me, so anytime after that, just shoot me a text." Looking at Fancy, she nodded.

"You may stay and play, just be home when they come over." If she didn't, well, she would have an ass to kick, now wouldn't she? "See you later."

Sasha nodded and let the woman leave to do what she needed to, deciding to simply sit out and just let the Pokemon do what they wanted and keep an eye on things. In the meantime however he did go about some minor yard-work to keep himself occupied for the while that Dione would be out and about. Cleaning up the garden, doing some weeding, bit of extra yard work and moving of items around until he felt it was about time when she'd be back.

At some point he'd look up to check and also make sure things were fine with the Pokemon. Zephyr and Tao were still having fun it seemed, making sure to include the Vivillon in their games if it had wanted to do so, while Heracles had remained in his spot in the shade under the tree, content and unmoving from his spot.
