Then again…

He was sorely tempted to continue sassing hi back but decided not to. At least, not yet. Maybe they’d get settled into that kind of routine—of bickering on a daily basis it became the norm over time.

“Would you prefer to stay in Slateport or Lilycove?” he inquired afterward. Because, depending on the answer, it would either be one of those two places.

(Verdanturf was the last option, the absolute last option because that was the ultimate panic button one should there be a deadlock…)

Fox fixes him with the most sarcastmic smile, a thin spread of his lips and narrowing of his eyes.

“Does it?” he says, in a paper voice that suggests it may not really be a question.

He is surprised (he’ll never admit it, but he is surprised) when Lars offers him an option.

“Mm, Lilycove, probably.” Slateport was too big for his liking. Too crowded.

“By miles, more so than you think,” he hummed as he took note of the other’s choice of Lilycove.

Which was, probably a good thing overall considering the fact that one of the bigger Ranger offices was located at the coastal city (the other being at Evergrande).

“I’ll get you set up with a place there. I’ll ask to get your papers transferred over from Rustboro to Lilycove in short order.”

(At least it’s not Verdanturf, because his flat only had one guestroom, and that guestroom more often than not usually ended up being occupied by whenever she came over for a visit from Oldale…)
