[attr="class","thadmain"]Walpurgisnacht is definitely not his scene. That, in itself, isn’t saying much: nothing is his scene, unless you count a dark alley and a bad idea.

The booze is neon colored and the glasses rimmed in black syrup that drips like black ichor down towards the bottom of the glasses. The fluorescence and general vibe of the club reminds Onyx of the place he found Andres in on Halloween.

It’s a bittersweet memory.

He’s ordered a gravedigger with an extra shot (it’s in a shot glass decorated in a veiny eyeball, resting on top of the ice in his drink) and he downs that first, turning the eye decal outward on the table with a wry smile at the irony.

"Looks tasty." the blonde said as he was handed his own Gravedigger. The house specialty is aesthetically intriguing and tastes just as good as it looks. He's not partial to vodka but the pecha liquor is pretty addicting. He drinks without a care, happy to order another. It's New Years's. They're alive! Couldn't that be enough? [break][break]

"To preventing apocalypses!" he said clinking his glass with Onyx's. Like they'd done anything other than try to eat each other alive during Meteno's arrival. He knocked back a couple of gulps before setting his glass back down. [break][break]

"I'm surprised you agreed to go out to a club." he said. He doesn't miss the familiarity between this and Halloween. "If I didn't know any better I'd say you're working a shift." he added. Again, probably the only reason he'd find Onyx in a club. And yet, even with his aversion to this type of scene, he still didn't know how to relax? Or bothered to? [break][break]

Andres hadn't learned much about Onyx in the past six months. He'd found him again. Seen him on and off. Somehow started handing out with him. He didn't know what Onyx did or where he went when he left the morning after. He just had a phone number and some hope. It's weird, but as he looked over his glass at his friend he decided he didn't care to know. He preferred this. Whatever this was. Which he had also decided, he didn't care much to know either. Maybe defining it would end it, and he was scared of that too.

Kind of like you, he thinks, and then that, out of all the things the two of them have done in the last three months, from handjobs in public to screwing like animals in the face of region-wide destruction, makes him blush-- really well and truly blush, and he averts his gaze as his face reddens and they clink glasses.

“To preventing apocalypses,” he echoes, getting his shit together enough to give Andres a grin. A real, well-and-true Onyx grin, dangerous and terrifying and the slightest bit deranged.

“I am delightfully full of surprises.”

He sits back in the booth and gives the club an appraising look, coming away unimpressed.

“Being a bouncer isn’t as fun without you there to distract me. I just spend the entire time miserable.” As opposed to beating people up. That was fun.

Still he toasts anyway, happy to be alive and happy to be here. Specifically with his date. Not date. Friend date. There it is. "It's good to mix things up. Routine can grind your mental health." he admitted, laughing for a moment before joining his friend in people watching.

"Huh?! You call that fun?" he smiling incredulously. Halloween had been...good? Andres had certainly had a good time. But he remembered being really angry and then...yeah. "You have my number, you could just call me." Andres had a hard time not answering immediately when it came to Onyx. He'd tried not to be so fast about it but...he couldn't help it.

"To be honest, haven't really had time to hit the clubs in a while. Maybe it'd be fun to visit you while you're working." No, he hadn't gotten bored with going out if it didn't involve a happy ending Onyx what do you MEAN?

“I want it stronger, not more watered down,” he said, tone verging a little bit on petulant, like a child who had gotten what they wanted and found it not as exciting as they’d hoped.

He downs the rest of the orange concoction and sets the empty glass towards the edge of the table.

“It was certainly… distracting,” he ventured, swiping a droplet of the sickly sweet, black syrup from the corner of his mouth on his thumb and sucking it clean. His smile is just the tiniest bit wicked.

Halloween had been… well, it certainly had been. Awakening. Enlightening. Exhausting. Thrilling. Many -ings, all wrapped up in one package; one hard, warm, throbbing, needy package.

“What’ve you been busy doing?”

He doesn’t want to think about the idea of Andres showing up to clubs because Onyx called him and getting it on with some stranger in a bathroom-- which had almost happened and, Onyx felt strongly, could very well happen again.

Hilariously, they are both thinking the same thing-- two soap bubbles ringing around the same contemplative drain. Maybe in the future, they could look back at this and laugh.

"Well, you've tried the house special, just get whatever you ant after." Andres said, unable to keep himself from laughing at his companion. It was a party, sure, but he was fine with sipping on the same cocktail for a while. He'd get drunk if Onyx did though. He grins into his drink. Most would be offended that a person would reduce spending the night with someone a 'distraction'. Andres is just happy to be remembered. He liked that he'd had some type of effect on Onyx. Enough to warrant him taking him home and helping him into bed. [break][break]

"Uhh...catching up on lessons I guess. Trying to start up work again after an apocalypse break." IT sort of rolled into winter break, and then school would start end of of January again but... He hadn't cracked the study lessons open in months. [break][break]

He hadn't needed to. Kids weren't stupid. He'd spent most of the time trying to comfort his classes and deal with the stresses of obeying League directives. [break][break]

"You? Your body feeling any better?" The words are tinged with euphemism. And while Andres cast his eyes towards the club, there's an undeniable smirk as he picked up his glass.

It occurred then to him that he did not know, exactly, what it was Andres did for work. His tone turns inquisitive. “You’re a teacher?” He hadn’t known. It suited him, though, and the kind, gentle, slightly goofy way about him. The way that was rapidly endearing him to Onyx, despite the latter’s attempts at ferocious backpedaling.

The server brought them back the shot glasses of amber liquid and Onyx split them up two and two.

“Fortunately, yes, it is.” In large part thanks to you. “You’d almost think I’ve lived with one eye my whole life. I’m almost back to normal. With a marked increase in stamina.”

"Four?" Andres echoed in surprise, mouth wide in an incredulous smile as he looked at his friend. Damn, he really meant strong huh? "I- Oh- Yeah." Andres explained as he set his glass back down. "I was a part timer at the Lillycove City Battle Institute, but after last summer I became a regular on the staff." he explained almost sheepishly. "I was doing personal trainer things on the side too." he added with a shrug. "Sometimes we do mock battles in the park." he added before being brave and going, "You should come sometime."

He nods at the server come back before realizing- oh- oh the shots were for the both of them? Shit. He knocks back the sweet drink, sipping the last orange black drop before moving the glass aside. This would be a first.

"Good. Glad you're adjusting ok." he said. He had been worried. The loss of the ye had been...rough. Again, something Andres was incapable of helping with but tried all the same. The mention of stamina makes him raise his eyebrows. "That good a recovery huh? Even with the stiches in your back?" What the hell had this man been up to?

[attr="class","thadmain"]The strange yet comforting images he’s cultivated of Andres surrounded by small children dissipate in a puff of smoke. So he’s a battle teacher. It stings a little in a way Onyx had forgotten about.

If Andres hadn’t beaten him-- rather, if Onyx hadn’t lost-- would they be in opposite positions? Andres with the scars and stories and Onyx with the genteel 9-to-5 and a side-hustle with a W2.

It’s distressing, but in a different way than it had been, before. The idea of Andres being hurt, in any capacity, makes his skin crawl.

“I’ll see if I can make it out.”

He lifts the first shot, they cheers, and toss it back. The alcohol burns his nose and he is reminded he has more taste buds than he imagined.

“I don’t really believe in healing lying down,” he said, pushing the empty glass off to the side in preparation for the next. “And I’ve done enough lying down for one lifetime.” Almost as soon as his stitches were out he was back to training, both his body and his Pokemon, fighting against blue murtagh and Alexandra Briarwood , respectively. But Andres didn’t really need to know that. “The lack of depth perception was more difficult to overcome.”

"I'd like that." he said with barely any airs about it. It's just another excuse to see the guy. But with less showing up unexpectedly. Not that he hated that either. Andres picks up the first shot and knocks it back with gusto. He reaches for a slice of lime to bite into. [break][break]

He reaches for the next, eyeing his companion. Onyx was impatient. He got frustrated easily at times. Or maybe he was just flustered? Onyx toed the line between both often enough with him. Not that he'd say that out loud. "Well, if you need to lean on someone because you can't handle being drunk with one eye, I'll hold you." he said with a laugh before clinking their shot glasses together. Andres taps his on the table before knocking it back once more and swallowing hard. "Strong enough, yet?" he asked as he picked up the same slice of lime to suck on.

[attr="class","thadmain"]His brain goes down that tract for the briefest of seconds: him rolling into the club where Andres is already body-glittered up at, half-drunk and writhing in a mass of human flesh, like some sort of grotesque Lisa Frank-Junji Ito love child.

Usually he’d be insulted that Andres had offered to hold him, like some sort of useless child, but alcohol warm and phantom pained by the lack of his eye, he’s a strange sort of warm, malleable lump.

“Careful,” he cautions, instead, “or I’ll take you up on that.”

They down their shots and Onyx is, for once, grateful for not having the right eye because he winced with his empty eye socket and it was hidden behind the eyepatch.

“Strong enough,” he said, gaze flicking up across the table. “How do you feel?”

He felt that comfortable warmth, spread from his belly up his spine and tickle his head. A comfortable buzz settled in that back of his brain. He could go for more, but the goal wasn't to black out tonight. The goal is Onyx, whatever it is they ended up doing. He just wants to be there for it. "You better." Andres said, baring his teeth in a grin. Maybe he's a little flirty, holding Onyx's eyes with a half lidded stare. [break][break]

He drops the lime into his shot glass, taking his time to look down as he pushes both away. "Like I'm having fun." He's so simple in the end. His previous focus is broken with honesty. OR at least, as honest as he can be right now, now that they're back to not fearing for their lives again. Maybe it's cowardly to be unable to repeat what he'd confessed during the edge of the apocalypse, but Andres had always been a coward. [break][break]

Wonders if he has the vaguest understanding of how things would go, now, after everything, if Onyx were to turn up and find Andres in the middle of some mosh-style grind pit with someone else’s tongue in his mouth. How poorly that would turn.

Maybe he did. Maybe that was the point. Onyx wasn’t sure if he enjoyed that more or less. Having emotions other than rage was sort of a new thing for him.

He cocks his head, peering across the table, cheekbones rising as his expression turns to something questioning. Like something precious and altogether foreign had just dawned on him, bright as the sun.

“I’m fun?” he says, and, on god, it is absolutely the stupidest thing he’s ever said in his life, but he is so floored he doesn’t have the grace to be embarrassed.

He wouldn't be here if he didn't know what he was inviting. If he didn't know what he wanted from this. It's Onyx. It's always been Onyx. One way or another, he craved his attention. Any kind he could get. Whether it was friendship or sex or just sitting next to him, shooting the shit. He had a problem and it was getting worse the longer they were in contact. [break][break]

So he sits and he stupidly thinks to himself, how cute in the moment this bastard in front of his was. Something about the way his expression softened, how dumbfounded he looked, was utterly adorable. It's not the cool detachment from before, or the sharpness he would flash when ready to gove chase. It's something entirely different Andres had never pictured before. [break][break]

So forgive him for leaning closer to it. Forgive him for smiling so coyly. Forgive him for how he rests his chin in his hand and looks down at him. Forgive the smirk and his stance changes to what he's molded himself into. A hunter on the prowl. An idiot playing with fire. But much like that night over movies, he's not entirely aware of it all. "You think I let just anyone break into my house?" He laughed, low and quick. "We always have fun together, excluding some accident shere and there."
